‘Ra’ refers to the worldly path, therefore it is unestablished. And the path above that is transcendental, so it is said to be established. Furthermore, established things can also be said to be unestablished, and can also be said to be established. The seven Bhumis (地,stages) below are unstable, so they are said to be unestablished. The three pure Bhumis are the stable path, so they are said to be established. Furthermore, regarding Bhumi and path, there are two types: common paths and uncommon paths. The common paths can be summarized into two: Shamatha (寂止,calm abiding) and Vipashyana (胜观,insight). These are, in order, Eka graha (一缘,one-pointedness) and Nisprapancha (离戏,free from elaboration). The uncommon paths can be summarized into two: Siksha-yuganaddha (有学双运,union in learning) and Asiksha-yuganaddha (无学双运,union beyond learning). These are also, in order, Ekarasa (味一,one taste) and Abhisamskara (无修,without effort). Regarding the common path, there are teachings on four yogas, as stated in the Lankavatara Sutra: ‘The Samadhi of children approaching’ is the Eka graha yoga, ‘The Samadhi of discriminating meaning’ is the Nisprapancha yoga, ‘The Samadhi focused on Suchness’ is the Ekarasa yoga, ‘The Tathagata Samadhi’ is the Abhisamskara yoga. The four yogas taught exclusively in the Mantrayana (密宗,Tantra) teachings, such as the order of the four yogas of Yamantaka (阎魔敌,Wrathful Manjushri), are clearly explained: The yoga of the beginner is the Eka graha yoga, the yoga of generating a small amount of wisdom is the Nisprapancha yoga, the yoga of having power over wisdom is the Ekarasa yoga, and the yoga of completely having power over wisdom is the Abhisamskara yoga. These also align with the four boundaries described in the Kalachakra (时轮金刚,Wheel of Time) as the conduct of the beginner, the yogi, the accomplished one, and the all-knowing one. When combined with the four conducts, Eka graha is combined with the Samantabhadra-caryā (普贤行,conduct of Samantabhadra), as in ‘Whatever dharma is not mentally fabricated is virtuous.’ Not corrupting the three doors (body, speech, and mind) with effort is the meaning of complete goodness, which is the root of all Tantric practices. Nisprapancha is combined with the secret conduct, because internally realizing that the nature of mind is free from all elaboration, externally, the clinging to the reality of gods, demons, etc., is destroyed. Through the power of emptiness, grasping at phenomena is abandoned, and radiance arises in ease. Ekarasa is combined with the ‘Rigpa brtul zhugs’ (理智禁行,conduct of awareness) which is the Ganachakra (会供轮,feast gathering) conduct, where good or bad circumstances are not rejected but are taken as the path. --------------------------------------------------------------------------------

'No Meditation' is combined with the conduct of being victorious over all sides, and is established through being victorious over all sides of grasping and grasper, or samsara and nirvana. When combined with the four samadhis, the way to combine single-pointedness and the lion's fully extended samadhi is: Just as the lion, the king of beasts, overpowers all other predators with its might, all afflictions and discriminations cannot trample it. The way to combine the samadhi of freedom from elaboration and illusion is: Just as a magician conjures various things such as horses and elephants, but they are not real from the moment they appear, so too, this yoga of freedom from elaboration realizes that all phenomena are without inherent existence. The way to combine the samadhi of one taste and heroic progress is: Just as a hero entering battle subdues the enemy forces under his rule and thus makes heroic progress, so too, this yoga of one taste subdues all unfavorable factors under its rule and thus makes heroic progress. The way to combine the samadhi of no meditation and vajra-like samadhi is: Just as the substance called diamond can pulverize all things, and its own essence cannot be cut or destroyed by anything, so too, this yoga of no meditation destroys all delusions, but delusion can never find an opportunity in its own essence. The way to combine with the four empowerments is: The meaning of the vase empowerment is to be free from ordinary appearance clinging and to be single-pointed on the pure mandala of the deity, and through single-pointedness, to be free from coarse and subtle discriminations and to abide in single-pointedness of mind. The meaning of the secret empowerment is: Through the key point of the union of wind and mind, the eighty types of self-nature discriminations cease, and through freedom from elaboration, the discriminations of grasper and grasped are purified into the expanse. The meaning of the wisdom-awareness empowerment is: To unite all phenomena such as bliss and emptiness and clarity and emptiness, and through one taste, all phenomena are of one taste, like ice dissolving into water. The meaning of the fourth empowerment is: To realize all phenomena as water and waves, thus purifying the stains of clinging to differences, and through no meditation, from the perspective of being free from what is to be meditated on and the meditator, to realize samsara and nirvana as one. Possessing the samadhi of bliss, clarity, and non-thought, therefore it is single-pointedness and joyful wisdom.
