One-pointed Yoga and Non-meditation Yoga. What is One-pointed Yoga? Recognizing the nature of movement within stillness, grasping the ground of stillness within movement. When the gap between stillness and movement collapses, it is the realization of the nature of One-pointed Yoga. Cutting off the conceptual thoughts of the three times (past, present, and future), the three poisons (ignorance, attachment, aversion) naturally dissolve, free from the faults of agitation, dullness, and ignorance, possessing the radiance of bliss, clarity, and non-thought, recognizing the nature of movement on that basis of peaceful abiding, and abiding in one's own ground within that movement, this is the arising of One-pointed Yoga in one's being. As the scripture says: 'Then, his body and mind, having attained great suppleness, should know with attention and together.' What is Non-conceptual Yoga, which is the pacification of all elaborations such as birth and death, permanence and annihilation, coming and going, one and many, and liberation from non-elaboration? Birth and death, etc., all elaborations of grasping and being grasped are pacified in their own place, whatever arises is recognized, whatever is born is realized as unborn. The object of observation and the observer dissolve into space. Non-elaboration does not mean falling into nihilistic emptiness, but seeing the face of ordinary awareness, realizing that delusion is without basis or root, the gap between delusion and liberation collapses, and cutting off attachments from within, this is the arising of Non-elaboration in one's being. Sarahah (Sanskrit: Sarahah, meaning: a famous figure in Indian Mahayana Buddhism) said: 'Whatever is seen in front, behind, or in the ten directions, that is it. Today the protector has cut off delusion, and now I will not ask anyone.' By thoroughly understanding the nature of one's own mind, which is the chief of all things, knowing that everything is that, and that nothing else can ever be found apart from it, this is the Yoga of One Taste. Recognizing and becoming familiar with the nature of original awareness, knowing that all appearances, appearing as pure and impure, etc., do not go beyond the expanse of one's own mind, so appearances arise as meditation, realizing the oneness of appearance and emptiness, the gap between appearance and mind collapses, adverse conditions turn into favorable conditions, and good and bad can be used on the path, this is the arising of the realization of One Taste. Once realized, everything is it, and no one can find anything else apart from it. Reading is it, holding and meditating are also it, and explaining the scriptures in the heart is also it. Just as fire and firewood, simultaneously abandoning closeness and distance, all dharmas are perfected in the expanse, this is Non-meditation Yoga. Just as fire ceases when firewood is exhausted, gaining stability in the nature of mind. --------------------------------------------------------------------------------

Due to the exhaustion of the two obscurations (klesha and jñeyāvaraṇa), and because of that, the effort of practice is also exhausted, the knot of hope and fear is untied, and the two benefits of self and others are accomplished. Realizing that all dharmas do not go beyond their nature, the single state of Dharmakāya, therefore, the boundary between samatha and vipassanā disappears, and this is the arising of non-meditation yoga in the continuum. As Jetsun Ling said: 'From the mouth of the master, I heard the meaning of the primordial, and practiced accordingly. The practitioner and the object of practice have both disappeared, and there is not even a need to maintain meditation during the session.' That is what he said. In the state of one-pointedness (Ekaṅgama Yoga), although afflictions and conceptual thoughts do not appear with their own characteristics, thus being no different from non-proliferation (Nisprapañca Yoga), it is inferior to non-proliferation because of still clinging to characteristics. In the state of non-proliferation, since it is free from the proliferation of clinging to entities, it is no different from one taste (Ekarasa Yoga), but it is inferior to one taste because various dharmas do not manifest as power. In the state of one taste, since all dharmas appear as equal in taste, it is no different from non-meditation (Abhisamaya Yoga), but it is inferior to non-meditation because the effort of practice has not been exhausted in the Dharmadhātu.' This was said by the venerable Gyalwang Rinpoche. According to the differences in the faculties of beings, the three ways of sudden, transcendent, and gradual are certain, therefore, the three ways of realization are explained. Since beings are determined as sudden, transcendent, and gradual, Mahāmudrā also has three ways of arising. The sudden one refers to those in whom the realization of all four yogas arises simultaneously, such as the accomplished Glingrepa. This is derived from the classification where each of the four yogas can be subdivided into four, which is the same as dividing non-meditation itself into four yogas. Phagmo Drupa and others divide each of the four yogas into three, which is the same in essence as dividing non-meditation into three. The arising of the transcendent one is due to the different degrees of previous practice, and can enter uncertainly from any of the three remaining yogas other than non-meditation. There is also no certainty about the stability or instability of the experience. As the 'Song of the Ḍākiṇī of Space' (Khandro Nammkhai Naljor) says: 'Without a fixed order, transcending whatever is transcended, therefore it is called transcendent.' The gradual one refers to starting from the one-pointedness of the four yogas, or from the internal subdivisions of one-pointedness itself. --------------------------------------------------------------------------------
