Zhabyang said: 'Alas! This is self-awareness wisdom, Transcending the path of speech, not the realm of mind. Tilopa, I have nothing to show, Realize it by yourself.' Now, the four yogas of practicing the path: Now, regarding the yoga of practicing the path itself: Non-conceptual, unborn, Non-dual, inconceivable. In order to abide in its state, there are four ways to practice the path: Abiding in the state of non-conceptuality is one-pointed yoga; Abiding in the state of unborn is freedom from elaboration; abiding in the state of non-duality is one taste; Abiding in the state of intrinsic nature is the yoga of non-meditation. It can also be divided in this way. How does one abide in the state of non-conceptuality? As long as there is grasping at things, One is bound in the prison of existence. Therefore, completely abandon grasping at things, And do not conceptualize in the absence of things. As long as there is grasping at things, There will be grasping at 'I'. Because of grasping at 'I', One is tightly bound in the prison of existence. Therefore, yogis should completely abandon grasping at things. Know that conceptualizing non-things is like poison. Do not dwell on the past, Do not anticipate the future, do not modify or examine the present. Like a child, Relax and abide in the original awareness, focused on one point. This is non-conceptuality because conceptual thoughts naturally subside. As the Bhagavan said: 'Conceptual thought is great ignorance, It is the cause of falling into the ocean of samsara. If one abides in non-conceptual samadhi, Like the sky, it is non-conceptual and clear.' From where it is born, and where it abides, And where it ceases, cannot be found. The suchness that is separated from the root, Abiding in equality is unborn. When abiding in this way, all phenomena of the three times do not arise as real phenomena, do not cease as non-existent phenomena, and do not abide as different phenomena. Therefore, all phenomena, at the edge of the three elaborations of arising, ceasing, and abiding, are understood to be separate from the recognition of essence. Abiding in this state is unborn. The arising of things is as peaceful as the sky, After abandoning things, what will arise? The nature that is originally unborn, Today, I understand it through the teachings of the guru. As long as there is the spreading of conceptual thoughts, That is the nature of mind. Things and emptiness, Abide equally in non-duality. Abiding in this way, spreading without dwelling. --------------------------------------------------------------------------------

When in a state of distraction, do not correct the distracted awareness, and let the six aggregates (the collection of six consciousnesses) relax naturally. Release the grasping of the grasper and the grasped, and abide like water and ice, or water and waves, this is non-dual yoga. As the scripture says: 'As long as the mind is still distracted, that is the nature of the Protector (Buddha). Are water and waves different?' Therefore, there is no practice, and there is nothing to be practiced. Transcending the practitioner and the object of practice, this is inconceivable wisdom. Abiding in this way is not about finding, lifting, or bending, but letting the place of abiding, the act of abiding, the object of practice, and the act of practice all transcend the realm of thought. Without any mental fabrication on all phenomena of samsara, nirvana, past, present, and future, abide in a state of non-action, non-effort, beyond thought, inherently complete, all-pervasive, clear and transparent, and spontaneously accomplished. This is said to be the inconceivable yoga. The great teacher Toktsepa said: 'Ordinary awareness awakens in the heart, the six aggregates are purified, and great bliss All actions are the source of meaningless suffering, abide in the original state of no practice.' The Victorious One (Buddha) also said: 'Without substance, there is no practice, the object of practice is not practice. Thus, without substance and non-substance, practice has no object.' Therefore, those who wish to see the definitive meaning as it is must diligently practice these four yogas. The key points of this teaching are profound and vast, and one must listen and practice the oral instructions from the lineage masters. Mere hearing is not enough to realize it. As stated in the Mahayana Sutra (Phalpo che): 'For example, a blind painter, in the middle of a bustling market, may please many people, but he cannot see anything himself.' Dharma without practice is the same. Four Yogas Differentiating Subtle Nuances of Experience Now, explaining the four Mahamudra yogas spoken by the great masters of the Drukpa Kagyu (Dwags po bka' brgyud) lineage, and the four, three, and twelve yogas they spoke of. The four yogas spoken of here are precisely the four yogas that differentiate the subtle nuances of experience. What are they? Namely: One-pointed Yoga, Freedom from Elaborations Yoga, One-Taste Yoga, and No-Practice Yoga. These four yogas are considered to be the differentiation of the subtle nuances of experience. --------------------------------------------------------------------------------
