Meditation is the four immeasurables: loving-kindness, compassion, joy, and equanimity. These (four immeasurables) have limitless sentient beings as their object, hence they are called 'immeasurable,' and considering their result, they are also called 'abodes of Brahma.' Among these, 'all sentient beings' refers to the object, and 'how wonderful it would be if they could have happiness' is loving-kindness. Similarly, for the remaining (compassion, joy, and equanimity), one should understand in a similar way. If one differentiates each of these (four immeasurables), there are three types: those with sentient beings as their object, those with Dharma as their object, and those without an object. What is purified by accumulating merit? One purifies the habitual tendencies of sentient beings' previous actions, which manifest in this life. At the time of death, whichever of virtue or non-virtue is stronger will appear. One purifies the habitual tendencies that obscure the clear light due to its power. Similarly, here, one has previously generated the mind of enlightenment and practiced through the two accumulations. By clearly establishing the accumulation of merit again, one leaves habitual tendencies at the time of entering emptiness. Therefore, it becomes the cause for arising from emptiness for the benefit of others. Therefore, here it says: 'Gross, subtle, and very subtle, common and distinct, know in order,' which is the way to reverse samsara. All of these are the accumulation of merit. Second, the accumulation of wisdom comes from the root tantra, such as 'emptiness of the cause as the preliminary.' Therefore, it extensively shows how to meditate on the three doors of liberation or the four doors of liberation, such as through Om Svabhava, etc. Here, in brief, one first establishes that all external phenomena are empty, and only mind exists. The Mind-Only school will become the view of truth. If one analyzes the meaning of the mantra Om Shunyata, etc., since there is no apprehended external phenomenon, it is also established that there is no apprehending mind. Therefore, after both the apprehended and the apprehending are non-existent, there remains a self-aware, self-illuminating awareness. This is called the Vajra of emptiness wisdom, which becomes the false view of the Mind-Only school. Therefore, the object of purification here is death, so one purifies the stages of dissolution of existence. The way of purification is from grasping at external phenomena, then the appearance of Mind-Only also dissolves into expansion, then dissolves into attainment, then dissolves into clear light. Just as the previous great emptiness has the potential to arise habitual tendencies, similarly, the intermediate state is established. Here, only the degree of nāda remains. Third, the generation stage, although some lamas consider 'Yam Ram,' etc., until meditating on the lotus, to be the arising yoga, the root tantra itself says: 'From entering sound, etc., until summarizing,' therefore it says that from aiming only at nāda, one then enters the subsequent yoga. That is, from emptiness, one again aims at nāda, which becomes gross. That is also... --------------------------------------------------------------------------------

This is due to the power of previously generated Bodhicitta. As for 'entering', starting from meditating on Yam (藏文:ཡཾ,梵文天城体:यं,梵文罗马拟音:yaṃ,汉语字面意思:Wind seed syllable), Ram (藏文:རཾ,梵文天城体:रं,梵文罗马拟音:raṃ,汉语字面意思:Fire seed syllable) etc., as it is said in the root tantra: 'The place where the cow lies down and ascends, the remaining dry matter arises from that vein, transforms into the nature of great bliss, or like the shape of a turtle shell.' This is how it appears in some translations. And in other translations: 'The place where the cow lies down ascends upwards, the remaining dry matter arises from that vein, transforms into the nature of great bliss, indivisible and like a turtle shell.' The order is reversed, 'arises from that vein' means that what runs from the vein is wind, thus showing the meditation on the wind wheel. The wind wheel also has descriptions of black, round, crescent, and bow-like shapes, all of which are not contradictory, and should be visualized like ice in the eyes of a yak. From above it looks round, from below it looks crescent, from the front it looks like a bow, with four silk threads marked at the tip. 'Remaining dry' means that what makes other things dry is fire, its fire wheel is a red triangle. 'Ascends upwards' is water, its water wheel is white and round. 'The place where the cow lies down', the sound of 'cow' is similar, so it is earth, yellow and square. 'ཉེར་སྒྱུར་སུ་བདེ་བ་' and 'སུ་མེ་' sound similar, so it is Mount Sumeru. 'Indivisible' is various vajras. The fourth is meditating on the lotus, because it will be mentioned below 'various lotuses on the mountain top', so it will not be detailed here. 'Like a turtle shell' means it is the generation method of the turtle shell deity, so it will be explained below. Here it is said that from Nada (藏文:ནཱ་ད་,梵文天城体:नाद,梵文罗马拟音:nāda,汉语字面意思:Sound) arises Yam (藏文:ཡཾ,梵文天城体:यं,梵文罗马拟音:yaṃ,汉语字面意思:Wind seed syllable), Ram (藏文:རཾ,梵文天城体:रं,梵文罗马拟音:raṃ,汉语字面意思:Fire seed syllable) etc., Nada (藏文:ནཱ་ད་,梵文天城体:नाद,梵文罗马拟音:nāda,汉语字面意思:Sound) is only used as a representation, symbolizing self-knowing and self-illuminating awareness. From that Nada (藏文:ནཱ་ད་,梵文天城体:नाद,梵文罗马拟音:nāda,汉语字面意思:Sound) arises the three realms of Samsara, showing that all gross appearances are created by the mind. In the 'Five Stages' it says: 'Brahma's egg, the egg-born is spoken of.' This is a special way of referring to the outer world as Brahma's egg and considering it as an object to be purified. Saying Brahma's egg is a heretical view, so it is to guide them. The Main Practice Secondly, the main practice is divided into four yogas: Yoga, Subsequent Yoga, Extreme Yoga, Great Yoga. Yoga and Subsequent Yoga Firstly, from 'Ah Ah' to 'white and red moons', this is generally in the generation stage, the extensive is purifying womb-born, the medium is purifying egg-born, the concise is purifying moisture-born, the extremely concise is purifying miraculously born, among the four, this is purifying egg-born. As it is said in the root tantra: 'In various lotuses on the mountain top, from the navel arises Ali Kali (藏文:ཨཱ་ལི་ཀཱ་ལི་,梵文天城体:आलिकाली,梵文罗马拟音:ālikālī,汉语字面意思:vowels and consonants), white, independent, victorious.'
