He said, 'I have met him, and I didn't tell others.' Less than a month later, he seemed to pass away. He was the object of debate between the Kathogpa (Ka-thog-pa, Kathog Monastery lineage) and the Meditative Community (bsgrub-sde-pa) in the south. He was a Geshe (dge-bshes, Doctor of Buddhist Philosophy) unlike others, surrounded only by excellent Ngagpas (sngags-'chang, mantra practitioners) of the Nyingma (rnying-ma-pa) school, a powerful person, so he performed many rituals in the Ralung (ra-lung) area, but with the blessing of the Master (rje, referring to Je Tsongkhapa), no harm occurred. After the Master passed away, I diligently performed meritorious deeds for him, and not only was I not harmed, but it was reversed. Other than that, I didn't do any special rituals. Furthermore, when the lotus footprint of Dolzhakpa (rdol-zhabs) was invited to Tsari Tra (tsa-ri-tra), and when he was invited to Kyisho (skyid-shod), he went to see Drongphu (byang-khar 'brongs-phu) in the north, which was the practice place of Lama Zhang (bla-ma zhang). When he got up after resting, his hand was placed on a stone, and his handprint clearly appeared. He wanted to keep it secret, but most people saw it, so it couldn't be erased. It was hidden in Tsari (tswa-ri). In addition, during the practice of the mandala (dkyil-'khor) and offering, the nectar (bdud-rtsi) and vase water boiled and overflowed, and the torma (gtor-tshogs) and old people, etc., countless miracles occurred. Combining the meaning of hearing with thinking, when he saw that meditation (sgom-pa) became familiar, he said, 'In this land of the snowy mountains (gangs-can, referring to Tibet), no one can compare to him who diligently practices. Even if the eyes of the noble ones cannot see the pure form, even if there is nothing, they can see a little bit.' Those who knew the situation said, 'Saying these words is to make foolish children happy.' Most people adorn themselves with the master's teachings as earrings, only making mistakes occasionally, so writing down the inner qualities in words cannot be seen. You who desire liberation in the next life should study his biography. At the end of the Iron Mouse year (this thag lo'i gzhug), the Master appointed me as his teacher. On the twenty-fifth day of the first month of the Wood Mouse year (byi lo), the Master showed a slight sign of discomfort. He sat in the main position. After the evening tea (dgongs ja) was served, he re-offered the torma (gtor-kha) and asked, 'Who is that? The light is shining, what is that?' I replied, 'It is me, I am re-offering the deity's torma.' He said, 'It is the Dharma protector (chos mgon pa).' You are a very thoughtful attendant of the Rinpoche (sprul sku rin po che). As soon as he finished speaking, the Master passed away. Immediately, a great earthquake occurred. These words of the Master made me, from the age of thirteen to twenty-two, mainly serve as his attendant and guard. After that, I studied the teachings of the Drukpa Kagyu ('brug lugs) lineage, especially he was very kind to me, teaching me without懈怠. The teacher Tashi Namgyal (bkra-shis rnam-rgyal) passed away.
