'At that time, my retinue will gather in the Pure Land of Manifest Joy, before my very eyes.' 'Here, through eighty-four relics, the holders of the lineage of the Lamas will spread the teachings.' 'May this act guide beings to completely escape samsara.' After recounting many past and future lives, the master intended to bestow a great empowerment. However, the assembled disciples pleaded: 'Until your illness is completely cured, please do not give the empowerment under any circumstances.' The venerable one replied: 'If my body cannot benefit others, what is the use of living?' Having said this, he began to give the empowerment. During the preparatory stage of 'elimination', his condition suddenly worsened. The disciples pleaded again. On the night of the main practice (empowerment), his body manifested a comfortable state, and he gave profound instructions, saying: 'Even if all the Buddhas of the past, present, and future were to come, there would be nothing more supreme than this.' He also made many prayers. The time was about midnight. He said: 'Think of happiness!' and displayed many joyful gestures. He also proclaimed his last will and testament. At the age of fifty-one, in the Iron Sheep year (Tibetan calendar), at the end of the middle autumn, on the twenty-fifth night of the star Krittika (eighth month of the Tibetan calendar), during the first watch of the night. The sole sun of the world, gathered the manifestation of the form body into the Dharmadhatu, and completely entered into Nirvana. At that time, the vast expanse of Samantabhadra's activity manifested a great tremor, shaking violently, and all the collections of waters churned. In the sky, various sounds of musical instruments arose, rainbows intertwined to form a tent, and a network of five-colored lights connected with each other. Seeing these sights, people talked to each other. Knowing that the sole protector of many beings had passed away, they uttered cries of sorrow like a million thunders, and rained down arrows of death like a violent rain. All faces were darkened like clouds at the end of an age, lamenting: 'Alas! We have lost our refuge and protector. The sacred eye of beings has fallen. Now the world has become empty!' They uttered many sorrowful wails. The Four Great Kings heard these sounds and also uttered cries of sorrow. The gods of the Thirty-Three and other desire realm gods, and the gods who abide in the form realm also heard, and they uttered uncontrollable cries, becoming helpless. Then, the lord of the hosts of well-written ones, with his retinue, carrying various kinds of offerings, arrived in the sky in front of the relics, scattering flowers. --------------------------------------------------------------------------------

They made offerings with umbrellas, lamps, scented oils, pure offerings, lutes, and assemblies of harps. They painted, remembered, offered as essence, and treated them with reverence. The cremation ceremony was conducted by Shangs Pa, and the assembly of disciples also offered continuously day and night for eighteen days, spending their time with prostrations, circumambulations, prayers, and many aspirations. Then, in a square jeweled house with four doors, adorned with nets and half-nets, decorated with jewels such as crystal, turquoise, and coral, with a prominent central ornament adorned with a wish-fulfilling jewel. The surroundings were beautified with pollen, banners, and streamers, and sprinkled with fragrant scents. In the center of the house, on a vine made of sandalwood snake-heart wood and Hari sandalwood, a delightful lion throne was arranged, covered with various silks and brocades. The remains were invited onto the throne, and various offerings were presented. In an instant, the King of Fire Gods, along with his retinue, came to make offerings. When they began to make offerings with a collection of five-colored fire offering substances, immeasurable light radiated from the remains, illuminating the entire three realms, and then dissolved back into the body. Immediately, a great fire of wisdom blazed from the navel, cremating the remains. Thus, all beings, including the gods, and the tens of thousands of assembled monks, were amazed and exclaimed in unison, 'Alala!' Marveling, they said, 'Such a great guide of beings, his power is truly wondrous!' They praised him with heartfelt sorrow. Then, fragrant water was poured into a jeweled vessel, and the relics were gradually extracted from the tiered building. The heart and tongue were found covered with a net of relics, as well as the image of Jetsun Zhal Nyima (Venerable Sun Face), the image of glorious Chakrasamvara, heart relics the size of seven mustard seeds, the three syllables (seed syllables, Tibetan: ཡི་གེ་གསུམ,Sanskrit Devanagari: अक्षरत्रय,Sanskrit Romanization: akṣaratraya,Chinese literal meaning: three letters), and stupas (Chorten, Tibetan: མཆོད་རྟེན,Sanskrit Devanagari: स्तूप,Sanskrit Romanization: stūpa,Chinese literal meaning: mound), and twenty-one relics from the joints of the body. The image of Arya Avalokiteśvara (Lokeshvara, Tibetan: འཕགས་པ་འཇིག་རྟེན་མགོན་པོ,Sanskrit Devanagari: आर्यावलोकितेश्वर,Sanskrit Romanization: āryāvalokiteśvara,Chinese literal meaning: Holy World Protector) Norbu Padma (Jewel Lotus), the image of the three protectors (Avalokiteśvara, Manjushri, Vajrapani) on the skull, and countless other relics, which were given as fields of offering for sentient beings, were invited.
