In the commonality of the two, there is a need to be non-dual with the teachings of all Buddhas. The third is the preliminary practice of the mind, divided into the elucidation of the essential points of the instructions and the actual preliminary practice. First, it is divided into three: what is primary, contemplating examples, and examining one and different. First, where is the main thing of these three, body, speech, and mind? When doing what, how, and when, which is the most important? By examining this, realizing that the doer of everything is the mind is to recognize all the demons of the root mind. As it says in the scripture: The mind is the chief, the mind is very swift, the mind goes to the lead of all things. Like that. The second is to identify what is like what from the elements. Although there is no coarse color and visible object, it is not stopped by just flowing, and because it appears similar, it is realized to be like the wind. This is knowing the four signs and the face of the example. As it says in the sound lineage: Consciousness is like the wind, it is an action. Like that. (207) Third, does it appear to external objects? Whatever you realize, are the mind and the object one or different at that time? If it is one, like the mind, the object should not be visible, etc., or like the object, the mind should also become visible and audible, etc. Similarly, are the three, body, speech, and mind, one or different? If it is one, they mix with each other, and the characteristics will be confused. If it is different, where does the mind do the action of being different? Also, examine the indivisible atom and the indivisible moment, examine them as different and examine them as one, and realize that there is neither one nor different, which is to see the meaning of non-duality of all dharmas. As it says in the scripture: The nature of the acting realm and the ultimate meaning is the nature of being separated from one and different. Whoever realizes one and different, those people have entered into an inappropriate view. And, one is also disturbed by the mind, and many are also caused by the mind. Like that. (208) The first two of these three objects are the birth dharmas of the holy guru, and the latter is the covenant of demolishing the house of the mind from the back text of Vimala's cutting through, which is quoted here, and is an indispensable and excellent point. The actual preliminary practice is, in the refutation theory, it says: Where does the mind first arise, where does it dwell in the middle, and where does it go in the end? By examining the mind in this way, tame the mind and know the nature of the mind. So it says.

Relying on this, there are three ways of examining. First, examining the place of origin and the originator: Does something like mind and wind arise from external appearances, or from the internal aggregates? Or what is the mind itself like? Like this, dividing the appearance of reason into indivisible particles, where is the place of origin? Examining the moment of mind into indivisible particles, what is the originator like? By examining, one realizes that the mind is unborn, rootless, and empty, and it is necessary to recognize the Nirmanakaya. (209) Now, examining the place of dwelling and the dweller: Where do thoughts, discriminations, appearances, and feelings dwell now, in the outer, inner, or middle? Examining as before, one realizes that there is no dwelling, no support, and it is necessary to recognize the Sambhogakaya. Finally, examining the place of going and the goer: Where do thoughts and discriminations go when they disappear? By examining, one realizes that the mind naturally ceases, without self-nature, and therefore one realizes that there is no cessation, no limit, and it is necessary to recognize the Dharmakaya. Thus, there are two necessities for the preliminary of the mind. The common necessity is: to reverse the attachment of the ordinary mind, to pacify the obstacles of the mind, and the common effect of these two is to purify the sins of the mind. The supreme necessity is: that the mind no longer enters samsara, that the mind is liberated into the Dharmakaya, and the common effect of these two is to attain Buddhahood without being separate from the minds of all Buddhas. Second, relaxation (210): Relax the three of body, speech, and mind, the body does not move, the speech does not speak, the mind does not discriminate, and lie down comfortably. There are two necessities, the common one is: by relaxing the body, the bodhicitta increases. By relaxing the speech, one abides in the meaning of the unspeakable. By relaxing the mind, one touches the meaning of non-discrimination. The supreme necessity is: by relaxing the body, one touches the Nirmanakaya. By relaxing the speech, one touches the Sambhogakaya. By relaxing the mind, there is the necessity of touching the Dharmakaya. Second, the main practice is the way of recognizing and relying on the continuum, there are two: recognizing the base of Trekchö, recognizing the path of Tögal. The first is: arranging the Tsok offering and Torma, the transmission of the lineage, gazing intently at one's own awareness, and then clearly establishing on the view of the Great Perfection of the exhaustion of phenomena and transcendence of mind, I, even if I am a person of inferior faculties, can attain Buddhahood without diligent practice, this is the view of the Great Perfection of Trekchö, the Primordial Purity.
