Appearances arise as light, body, and rays. Differentiating from the perspective of parts, it is called the spontaneous and precious appearance from the aspect of six ways of appearing, two doors, and eight parts. It is also called the spontaneous arising without certainty. The six ways of appearing are: appearing like compassion, therefore compassion is without partiality; appearing like light, therefore everything appears as five lights; appearing like body, therefore the assembly of peaceful and wrathful deities fills the sky; appearing like wisdom, therefore the Sambhogakaya realm is self-appearing; appearing like non-duality, therefore there is no conceptualization of anything; appearing like the exhaustion of extremes, therefore wisdom is thorough and unobstructed. The two doors are: appearing like the door of pure wisdom, therefore spontaneously arising as the basis of liberation for Samantabhadra; appearing like the door of impure (153) samsara, therefore ignorance is the root of confusion for sentient beings and arises spontaneously. Beneath that appearance, there is what is called the great ground appearance, which is especially superior to the union of four wisdoms, with a cloth of five-fold light pervading the sky. Beneath that, there is the appearance of the Sambhogakaya, with countless assemblies of the five families. Beneath that, there is the field appearance of the Nirmanakaya of self-nature, with countless pure realms appearing to be surrounded by Buddhas and Bodhisattvas. Beneath that, from the appearance of spontaneous arising, in the realms of the six types of beings, there are countless and inconceivable appearances of the six teachers of the six realms, together with their teachers. All of those are also, upwards, the appearance of primordial purity, in a state like the sky without clouds, the father and mother Samantabhadra appear as dark blue, and in between, the field appearance of clear light wisdom appears like a rainbow, with the five families of Buddhas self-appearing as vast as the sky pervades. Upwards is the pure realm, and downwards is the impure realm, appearing as the teachers to be tamed and the tamers, all phenomena are spontaneously self-arisen (154) in the wisdom of awareness, from the very beginning. From the excellent distinction, it says, "Samsara and the enjoyment of suffering are Yeshe (藏文,梵文天城体,梵文罗马拟音,Wisdom)." And, "All of samsara and nirvana are the magical display of awareness." That is the meaning. If we combine the nature of these with the scriptures that make them known, from the self-arising of awareness, it says: Beneath that, it is called the state of the spontaneous and precious. There are six ways of appearing. There are two doors. That is also called spontaneous arising. It is also called the uncertain ground. It is also called the ground appearance appearing in various ways. Beneath that, there is the place of turning back.

Moreover, below that, there is what is called the Great Ground Appearance. Below that, there is the appearance of the Sambhogakaya. That is called the basis for the manifestation of the path. It is also clear, warm, cool, light, and holds the nature of movement. It possesses the five kayas, the five wisdoms, the five families, as well as the five colors, five lights, five realms, five forms, five sounds, five smells, five tastes, five touches, five dharmas, five appearances, five lords, and five retinues. It also possesses the thirty-two major marks and the eighty minor marks (155). It possesses the six dharmas of abandonment. These are the ways in which the Sambhogakaya appears. That is the connection between it and what arises from it. From that appearance, there is the appearance of the Svabhavikakaya, the way in which the Nirmanakaya tames beings, and the way in which the Nirmanakaya appears due to impurity. Among these, the Svabhavikakaya is the essence that arises from spontaneous accomplishment. The way it appears is with inexhaustible retinues, inexhaustible resources, inexhaustible qualities, inexhaustible power, inexhaustible skills, inexhaustible miracles, immeasurable lifespan, and freedom from all the suffering of illness. It proclaims inconceivable palaces and inconceivable dharmas. This is the way the Svabhavikakaya appears. From that arises the Nirmanakaya that tames beings. It appears in various ways, knows the meanings of various things, and although it appears, it does not cease. Thus it is said. In this way, the five appearances that are shown above and below, from the dharmadhatu, simultaneously with the arising of the uncertain spontaneous accomplishment from the radiance of the body and wisdom, from the Great Ground Appearance arises the Sambhogakaya (156), from that arises the Svabhavikakaya, and from that arises the Nirmanakaya that tames beings. These arise without precedence, like the radiance of a face appearing in a mirror. Because it appears without precedence, it is said to be in order. It is said in order in relation to the arising and the basis of arising, and it is not a sequence of precedence. Also, when the appearance arises in this way, the self-appearance of the primordial Samantabhadra arises from the dharmadhatu, like the image of a face and a mirror, or like a body and a shadow. In the moment of knowing and distinguishing, the bases of self-appearance dissolve into the inner clarity, primordial
