其中,vritta(藏文:བྲིཏྟ་,梵文天城体:वृत्त,梵文罗马拟音:vritta,汉语字面意思:旋转)指的是押韵,因为据说它指的是加入或结合,所以是计算音节的结合;jati(藏文:ཛཱ་ཏི་,梵文天城体:जाति,梵文罗马拟音:jati,汉语字面意思:种类)指的是种类,通过计算长音节和短音节的数量来计算节拍。如果想要详细了解vritta和jati的分类,可以参考《红黄论》、《胜天论》和《韵律宝藏》。

'The stainless one, meaning the one with extensive learning, who grasps words and deeply contemplates their meaning with a sharp mind, and possesses unwavering perseverance, not being lazy. These three efforts arising from diligence are the essential factors for achieving vast poetic wisdom. Furthermore, it is stated in the 'Mirror of Poetry': 'Even without the extraordinary talent of previous virtuous imprints, if one relies on hearing and effort, diligently practicing, one will surely achieve results. Therefore, those who desire fame should always diligently rely on Saraswati through gradual stages.' Even if one initially lacks innate wisdom, if one relies on hearing in this life and diligently studies the various aspects of poetry, such as rhetoric and figures of speech, then that practitioner will eventually be able to compose perfect poetry. Therefore, one should abandon laziness and, through the stages of hearing, contemplation, and meditation, rely on the goddess of speech, Saraswati, or the various disciplines of poetry. Next, discussing the essence of poetry. First, discussing the 'body' of poetry. Fourth part, discussing the essence of poetry. As stated in the 'Mirror of Poetry': 'Through these, the 'body' and 'ornaments' of poetry can be explained in detail.' Therefore, we will discuss the 'body' of poetry, the 'ornaments' of poetry, and how to remove the 'faults' of poetry. First, it is divided into two parts: definition and classification. First is the definition. As stated in the 'Mirror of Poetry': 'The 'body' is the chain of words that temporarily desires to define the meaning.' The 'body' of poetry refers to the essence of the meaning that the poet wants to express, which does not exceed the scope explained in treatises on rhetoric and figures of speech. It is a chain of words that defines the meaning, such as statements praising the qualities of the Buddha. The second part is classification. As stated in the treatise: 'It exists in three forms: verse, prose, and mixed.' Therefore, there are three forms. The first is verse. The treatise states: 'Verse is composed of four-line stanzas and is divided into two types: vritta and jati.' A composition with four-line stanzas is called verse. Among them, vritta (藏文:བྲིཏྟ་,梵文天城体:वृत्त,梵文罗马拟音:vritta,汉语字面意思:旋转) refers to meter, because it is said to refer to joining or combining, so it is the combination of counting syllables; jati (藏文:ཛཱ་ཏི་,梵文天城体:जाति,梵文罗马拟音:jati,汉语字面意思:种类) refers to type, counting the number of long and short syllables to calculate the meter. If you want to understand the classification of vritta and jati in detail, you can refer to 'The Red and Yellow Treatise,' 'The Victorious Heaven Treatise,' and 'The Jewel Treasury of Prosody.' --------------------------------------------------------------------------------

It is said that it should be understood from the origin of dependent arising and so on. There are two divisions. The second is prose: In the text, it says, 'A continuous flow of words without feet is called prose statements and talks.' That is, a continuous flow of words not divided into four lines is called prose. It can also be divided into two types: statements that are not related to the topic, and talks that are related. The third is mixed: In the text of 'Mirror of Poetry,' it says, 'Mixed forms such as dramas, etc., are elaborated elsewhere.' That is, a mixture of verses divided into four lines and prose not divided is known as mixed form and dramas, etc. Now explaining the ornaments. First is the ornament of nature, and second is the ornament of simile. Explaining the ornaments has two parts: definition and division. First, the definition: As the text says, 'The qualities that beautify poetry are called ornaments.' That is, the qualities of excellence that beautify the body of poetry, verses, prose, and mixed forms, are called ornaments by the wise. Second, the division: There are three types: ornaments of meaning, ornaments of sound, and riddles. Here, explaining the ornaments of meaning, the text of 'Mirror' says, 'Description of nature, simile, embodiment, clarification, circumlocution, obstruction, placement of another meaning, reversal, possibility, abbreviation, excellence, hyperbole, cause, subtlety, part, sequence, joy, emotional fullness, splendor, enumeration, universal benefit, vastness, denial, association, distinction, similarity, contradiction, inappropriate praise, false praise, definite statement, simultaneous statement, complete following, auspiciousness, repetition, then intention. These words are considered ornaments by the ancient scholars.' The meaning of what is said above is: First, the ornament of nature, which is a poem that describes the subject matter, whether it is a kind, quality, action, or substance, in short, as it is, without exaggeration, is the ornament of nature. For example: 'The king with seven horses travels in the sky, the daughter of Jahu removes impurities, the poisonous one dwells in the depths of the ocean, the virtuous ones dwell in gentleness.' This is how it is identified. The great Pandit Shakya Chokden, Drimed Lekpai Lodro, composed a praise to the teacher Thubpai Wangpo called 'Mirror of Meaningful Ornaments, Delightful to the Wise.' --------------------------------------------------------------------------------
