'Whether it is copper or clay is acceptable.' It is said. As it is stated in the Root Tantra of Chakrasamvara and others, it can be made of precious materials such as gold, or it can be made of clay. Second, regarding the characteristics or dimensions: In 'The Clear Union,' it says: 'It should possess the characteristics of a victorious banner, with a high and very beautiful neck, the width of the belly is five times the height. If the dimensions are different from this, the patron will not be auspicious.' This indicates that, in general, there are many types of vases, such as the vase of victory, the vase of empowerment, the vase of activity, the vase of offering, the vase of enjoyment, the vase for washing away impurities, and the vase for daily use. This refers to the dimensions of the vase of victory for a patron. Its dimensions are: the width of the belly is five times the height, the height is nineteen fingers, and the bottom tapers inward by one finger, totaling twenty fingers. The height of the neck is eight fingers, the opening is six fingers wide, and the overhang from the opening to the lower lip is two fingers each. The finger referred to here is of medium size. Furthermore, regarding the dimensions of the vase of victory without a patron, and the vase of empowerment, etc., in the 'Six-Faced Vajra Tantra,' it says: 'A vase without a black base, with a large belly like a measure, possessing hanging lips and a long neck, filled with essential medicines, etc. The neck is wrapped with fine cloth, adorned with bamboo branches with petals, decorated with fragrant ornaments, and offered with nectar.' This indicates that the dimensions should be like a measure. Furthermore, in the 'Condensed Vajra Garland,' it says: 'The center of the peaceful and increasing vase, the shape is round, sixteen fingers wide. From below the belly to between the mouth and lips, the height is twenty fingers. The edge of the mouth and the lips are two fingers, the neck is six fingers wide, from lip to lip end is eight fingers, half of eight fingers is the space of the neck. Some say the lips are protruding, and the space between the two is also protruding. Without a black base, made of gold or silver, or made of copper or earth is also acceptable. Whatever is found, take it, decorate the belly and neck, and place such vases.' There is also such a statement. In any case, in order to distinguish such a vase from the vase of non-Buddhists, it has no base, that is, it is not connected to a base. There are no black stains or base, nor cracks, etc. Its nature is white, that is, it is painted white.' It is said. Furthermore, in the 'Ocean of Dakinis,' it says: 'Without blackness and a base, the lips are hanging, the neck is high, and the neck is adorned with fine cloth.' --------------------------------------------------------------------------------

第三组是五药:gHinti(一种带刺的植物,用作篱笆,可能是鼠李或刺山柑)、白花树胶、海泡石、睡茄和毛茄。

I understand clearly that what is said here means: 'Select a vase that is completely free of black spots, without cracks or flaws, with a wide mouth, and without any damage.' Second, regarding the essence within the vase: First, 'great water' refers to flowing clear water, or 'small water' refers to water that is as clean as reeds and free of living creatures, filling about two-thirds of the vase. Then, in all tantras, place the five common vase substances, which are five sets of items, into the vase. The first set is the five grains: barley, wheat, beans, rice, and white sesame. The second set is the five precious substances: gold, silver, coral, conch, and pearl. The third set is the five medicines: gHinti (a thorny plant used as a hedge, possibly buckthorn or caper), white gum, sea foam, ashwagandha, and kantakari. The fourth set is the five essences: clarified butter, jaggery, butter, milk, and honey, which is described in the ritual of the nine-deity mandala. Furthermore, in the commentary on 'Destroying All,' it is mentioned that the essence of earth is sesame, the essence of water is jaggery, the essence of plants is butter, the essence of fruits is crude sugar, and the essence of flowers is honey. The fifth set is the five fragrances: two types of sandalwood (white and red), two of saffron and camphor, and nutmeg. Prajñārakṣita mentioned musk, but it is avoided because it is harmful to the nāgas. In Anuttarayoga Tantra, five meats and five elixirs are added on top of these, forming seven sets of five items. As stated in the 'Ocean of Dakinis': 'Fill with the five precious substances, the grains, the medicines, the fragrant water, and the tips of the petals.' Bhava Bhadra and others say that this essence is absolutely necessary for the Namgyalma (Victorious Mother), because it is more important than other vases. Donyö Zhap and others say that other vases can be filled with fragrant water alone. Regarding how to place these essences, Prajñārakṣita says: 'Wrap them in cloth, tie them to the neck of the vase, and then place them in the vase.' Yamāntaka says: 'Place a container filled with these essences on top of the vase.' The great accomplished Bhava Bhadra and others say: 'Place them inside the vase.' Among these three methods, we follow the last one. Furthermore, except for the five grains, the other items can be made into pills or mixed into powder.' Third, regarding the external signs and decorations: The great accomplished Nāgārjuna Bodhi says: 'The mandala master should prepare all the seed syllables or symbols in advance, using saffron and other pigments, and skillfully draw them on the side of the vase.' Therefore, the seed syllables or implements should be drawn on the side of the vase. --------------------------------------------------------------------------------
