Furthermore, to think that certain deities and protectors, such as those worldly gods and demons who have passed away from samsara after several generations, are foolish in the extreme. If one thinks that enlightened beings should not descend into the bodies of ordinary people, that is not necessarily the case. In fact, many arrogant individuals who are enlightened but outwardly appear worldly often manifest in such a way. In particular, our Sakya school's protector deity, Palden Lhamo (Skt: Śrīdevī, Śrīdevī, Glorious Goddess), the mistress of the desire realm, who is of one mind with the goddess Dudsolma, in the past, when she gave prophecies to certain individuals, some with perverse views spoke all sorts of evil words. At that time, some wise individuals said, 'Enlightened deities do not descend upon people; those who descend are worldly.' This statement is entirely unreasonable. Because in the Kalachakra it says, 'After Vajra power is bestowed, one can ask about good and bad omens, and then request them to return.' Furthermore, if all the tantras that speak of invoking Vajrasattva (Tib: རྡོ་རྗེ་སེམས་དཔའ, Skt Devanagari: वज्रसत्त्व, Vajrasattva, Diamond Being) or bestowing wisdom become meaningless.' This statement appears very reasonable. The lord of the fields, the master of the charnel ground, also descends into the bodies of ordinary people to accomplish the supreme activities of mantra holders, Vajradharas. For example, once, when Jey Dorje Lingpa Kunsang Chokyi Nyima was a little short on tea, he sent his attendant Kongpo Ngor to fetch tea. Jey Dorje Lingpa said in a respectful manner, 'Go run to the master of the charnel ground and get some tea.' So, the attendant and his servants borrowed lodging in a teahouse near Ngor Monastery. At that time, the field protector, the master of the charnel ground, descended upon one of the servants in the teahouse and said that he needed tea. The merchants became suspicious, so they presented very clean tea and made offerings.' This is quoted from Tsarchen Chokyi Gyalpo's biography of Jey Dorje Lingpa, 'The Amazing Faith That Makes the Hairs Stand on End.' Furthermore, the manner in which Palden Magzor Gyalmo herself descends upon ordinary people is similar to the aforementioned situations. Therefore, in order to accomplish vast benefit for sentient beings, those enlightened beings who possess wisdom, compassion, and power manifest various kinds of miraculous displays. --------------------------------------------------------------------------------

Since the land cannot measure the vastness (of the Dharmakaya), how can it be limited by 'only this much'? Therefore, it is not appropriate to measure whether wisdom descends upon ordinary beings based on reason or lack thereof. Those who speak such words only make themselves look ugly, like the kumuda flower in the sunlight. Furthermore, it is unreasonable to assume that the demon Spekar, who Padmasambhava subdued when suppressing the land of Samye, is this Dharma protector. Because this great Dharma protector had already been revered as his own guardian deity before Padmasambhava came to Tibet from India. And the demon Spekar of Samye, as described in detail above, was subdued only after the suppression of the land of Samye. If so, then what is the reason why this great Dharma protector is called 'King Spekar'? The reason is that in the Indian language, 'Vihara' means 'temple'. From the phonetic evolution of this word, the terms 'Spekar' and 'Spehar' came into being. Many scriptures explaining phonetic evolution record this. Therefore, the reason why this Dharma protector is called 'King Spekar' is: Because he is the leader of all arrogant beings in the world, he is called 'King'; and because Padmasambhava appointed him as the guardian of the temple, the Sanskrit name of the temple was used to name this guardian deity. Please be sure to understand this. Now, briefly tell the history of the secret support of this great Dharma protector, which is the mask known as 'Aphira Smug Chung'. According to the Dharma protector's own prophecy: On the continent of the Milk Ocean of Banakusha, upon the lotus stamen tree, attained rare and supreme accomplishments, praised for subduing the Rakshasas of the southwest. In the cool forest of the charnel ground, Rakshasa corpses piled up like mountains, is an offering to please the Lama, a feast to please the Dakinis. Dharma protectors gather like Mount Sumeru, establishing a red mandala of flesh and blood, filled with the fragrance of burning fat incense, offering a sea of blood as nectar. Inviting Guru Padmasambhava to descend, commanding the Eight Classes to submit like servants. Dark clouds gather in the sky, flames burn, three drops of blood fall three times. The earth raises yellow dust, a great storm rages, the skin of the Rakshasa's face is blown away by the wind. The elements merge into it, shaped by Guru's own hands, distinguishing between red and black. --------------------------------------------------------------------------------
