When all the deities appear, subduing Raksha's flames into self-extinction, like the auspicious coincidence of destroying heretical sects, at this time, from the realm of Dharma, the self-arisen Vajra City, the powerful and blazing protective palace, the nine-layered iron fortress, appears vast and clear, pervading the sky and the earth. Contemplate that oneself and all those to be protected are included within it, thus setting a boundary. The meaning of the mantra is: Om, five bodies, five wisdoms. (Tibetan: ཨཱོཾ་སྐུ་ལྔ་ཡེ་ཤེས་ལྔ།, Sanskrit Devanagari: ओṃ पञ्चकाय पञ्चज्ञान, Sanskrit Romanization: oṃ pañcakāya pañcajñāna, Literal Chinese Meaning: Om, Five Bodies Five Wisdoms.) Vajra, Vajra; Krota, Wrathful; Hayagriva, Horse-necked One. (Tibetan: བཛྲ་རྡོ་རྗེ་ཀྲོ་ཏ་ཁྲོ་བོ་ཧ་ཡ་གྷྲིཿཝ་རྟ་མགྲིན།, Sanskrit Devanagari: वज्र क्रोध हयग्रीव, Sanskrit Romanization: vajra krodha hayagrīva, Literal Chinese Meaning: Vajra Wrathful Horse-necked One.) Sarva, all. (Tibetan: སརྦ་ཐམས་ཅད།, Sanskrit Devanagari: सर्व, Sanskrit Romanization: sarva, Literal Chinese Meaning: All.) Raksha Raksha, protect, protect. (Tibetan: རཀྵ་རཀྵ་སྲུང་ཤིག་སྲུང་ཤིག, Sanskrit Devanagari: रक्ष रक्ष, Sanskrit Romanization: rakṣa rakṣa, Literal Chinese Meaning: Protect Protect.) Hum, destroy all fears. (Tibetan: ཧཱུྃ་འཇིགས་པ་ཀུན་འཇོམས་ཤིག, Sanskrit Devanagari: हुṃ सर्वभय नाशय, Sanskrit Romanization: hūṃ sarvabhaya nāśaya, Literal Chinese Meaning: Hum, Destroy All Fears.) It means: The essence of the five bodies and five wisdoms, Vajra Wrathful Hayagriva, please protect, destroy all fears! Thus, consecrate with the protective mantra. The necessity of meditating on the protective circle in this way is: From now until the attainment of enlightenment, without obstacles and hindrances, may we abide in the nature of the seven Vajra Dharmas without abandoning them. From the Vajra realm, may the interdependence free from dualistic appearances be spontaneously perfected without effort. At the time of the completion stage, may all desires be fulfilled without obstruction, spontaneously accomplished. The meaning of the words of refuge and bodhicitta is: Hum, remembering and reciting the seed syllable of the hearts of all Buddhas, and the heart essence seed syllable Hri of Hayagriva. (Tibetan: ཧཱུྃ་, Sanskrit Devanagari: हुṃ, Sanskrit Romanization: hūṃ, Literal Chinese Meaning: Hum.) (Tibetan: ཧྲཱིཿ, Sanskrit Devanagari: ह्रीः, Sanskrit Romanization: hrīḥ, Literal Chinese Meaning: Hri.) In the sky in front, visualize the essence of all the Three Jewels and Three Roots gathered without exception, the powerful Lotus Lord deities. I and all beings, until the attainment of enlightenment, at all times and in all ways, with body, speech, and mind, respectfully take refuge. Through the supreme gate of bodhicitta of vast and fierce activities, may all enemies, obstacles, and hindrances to the teachings be removed. May we generate the mind of enlightenment for the sake of all sentient beings attaining the precious state of enlightenment. That is the meaning of refuge and bodhicitta. The necessity of taking refuge and generating bodhicitta in this way is: All the accumulated defilements from beginningless time are purified without being abandoned. Without effort, the qualities of benefiting beings through the form body spontaneously perfect themselves. Turning away from wrong paths and the lesser vehicle, all adverse conditions are pacified. Accumulating the two accumulations, they spontaneously ripen in one's own mind stream without effort. The meaning of the words of blessing the offering substances is: I myself am the horse-headed deity of the boundary.

From the cloud-like clear heart, a red syllable རཾ་(Tibetan, Devanagari: रं, Romanized Sanskrit: raṃ, Literal Chinese meaning: Rang) radiates the self-essence of discriminating wisdom, burning away the outer world of appearances and the inner clinging to substantiality, as well as the impurities of the offerings with the fire of wisdom. From the self-essence of accomplishing wisdom, a green syllable ཡཾ་(Tibetan, Devanagari: यं, Romanized Sanskrit: yaṃ, Literal Chinese meaning: Yang) blows away the habitual tendencies of dualistic clinging and the impurities of the offerings with the wind of wisdom. From the self-essence of mirror-like wisdom, a white syllable ཁཾ་(Tibetan, Devanagari: खं, Romanized Sanskrit: khaṃ, Literal Chinese meaning: Kham) washes away the impurities of the offerings with the eight-fold water. All the mistaken perceptions of the unknown defilements of the alaya are purified into the inconceivable realm of Dharma, and the wisdom of fire, wind, and water is chanted: རཾ་ཡཾ་ཁཾ་(Tibetan, Devanagari: रं, यं, खं, Romanized Sanskrit: raṃ, yaṃ, khaṃ, Literal Chinese meaning: Rang, Yang, Kham). Purify by reciting three times. Again, from the heart of oneself as Hayagriva, the essence of the body vajra of all the victorious ones, a white syllable ཨཱོཾ་(Tibetan, Devanagari: ओं, Romanized Sanskrit: oṃ, Literal Chinese meaning: Om) radiates and touches the offerings, making them beautiful in form, pleasant in sound, fragrant in smell, sweet in taste, and soft in touch, clearly filling all the pure realms of the Dharmadhatu. Again, from the throat, the essence of speech vajra, a red syllable ཨཱོཾ་(Tibetan, Devanagari: ओं, Romanized Sanskrit: oṃ, Literal Chinese meaning: Om) radiates and touches the offerings, transforming them into the nectar of stainless wisdom. Again, from the heart, the essence of mind vajra, a dark blue syllable ཧཱུྃ་(Tibetan, Devanagari: हूँ, Romanized Sanskrit: hūṃ, Literal Chinese meaning: Hum) radiates and touches the offerings, making them immeasurable objects of desire, fulfilling all needs according to their respective purposes, possessing the glory of all that is needed, and contemplating them as offerings to all the deities of the three roots. Bless them by reciting the mantras of body, speech, and mind, ཨཱོཾ་ཨཱཿཧཱུྃ་(Tibetan, Devanagari: ओं, आः, हूँ, Romanized Sanskrit: oṃ, āḥ, hūṃ, Literal Chinese meaning: Om, Ah, Hum) three times.
