Adorned with immeasurable splendor. As they arrived at the eastern gate, the sun also rose. On the ridge of the southeast corner outside the iron fence, there were many cities of Rakshasas. Then, going up from the eastern gate of the palace, in the center of a large circle, there was a magnificent palace, a great mansion, at the top of which a network of light and rays was connected. The roof and the victory banner seemed invisible. On the first of the three stories, at the top of the four directions, to the east was a lion, to the south a dragon, to the west a great garuda, and to the north a tiger. The images of these four animals were made of gold, and their crests were adorned with three jewels, framed by radiant light. Their bodies were adorned with many precious necklaces, and silk pennants fluttered in the wind. From their mouths, they were adorned with strings of senses, hearts, and inner channels. On the four horse heads, four banners of corpses were erected. In the four intermediate directions, each three-cornered banner of human skin was topped with a braid of human hair and a crown of dry human heads. There was also a wheel made of human skin. On all sides of the second story, there were many images of great, powerful beings. Between the ornaments and fluttering silk streamers, the four faces were adorned with many precious half-nets, both inside and out. The four faces were adorned with four golden victory banners, and the four intermediate directions were adorned with four banners. The mouth was made of gold. Above the third story, from beneath the mouth marked by the roof and victory banner, three strings of bells were connected from the mouths of many lion images. On top of each of the four corners, which were in the form of turrets, were adorned with four small victory banners. On the four khatvangas in the four intermediate directions, banners of white, yellow, red, and green silk were adorned. Then that woman said to me: Son, do not be distracted; this is a dreamlike vision. Hold these manifest arrangements of Padma's light in your mind, record them in a catalog, and show them to the fortunate. Now, beneath this great palace, in the emanation temple, Padmasambhava, the Skull Garland Master, abides in the form of a Rakshasa king.

Therefore, generate a vision of devotion and abandon the knowledge of fear. He gave it to me as a token of meeting, saying, "Take this," and then handed me a skull cup filled with alcohol. After that, the woman went inside, and I followed her, holding onto her clothes. In the center of a very large hall, on a dark purple throne, on a seat of sun, moon, and lotuses, blazing with rays of self-illumination, on a throne of corpses lying face up and face down, sat the great wrathful one, dark purple, with nine heads and eighteen arms, eight legs stretched out in all directions, holding terrifying weapons, hearts, heads, and skull cups filled with blood, and so on. His body had wings that had grown from himself, his mouth was open and his tongue was rolled, his teeth were gnashing, and his red and yellow beard and eyebrows were blazing, scattering sparks. His reddish-yellow hair stood upright, adorned with dry skulls and severed heads. He wore a necklace of human heads and a cloak of human skin. In short, he was complete with all the attire of a wrathful deity, sitting in the midst of a great fire that roared and blazed. From those faces came various sounds like haha, hūṃ hūṃ (Tibetan: ཧཱུྃ་ཧཱུྃ།, Sanskrit Devanagari: हुँ हुँ, Sanskrit Romanization: hūṃ hūṃ, Literal Chinese meaning: hōng hōng), phaṭ phaṭ (Tibetan: ཕཊ་ཕཊ།, Sanskrit Devanagari: फट् फट्, Sanskrit Romanization: phaṭ phaṭ, Literal Chinese meaning: pā pā), bhyo bhyo, and ja ja. The assembly of attendants also included beings with three faces and six arms, and many with various kinds of head ornaments, many acting like they were dancing, many like running spirits. The particularly important main deity was not a clay sculpture or a painting, but had a manifest, real face. His breath billowed, his dance swayed, his laughter resounded, and he stood there. In front of that deity, on top of three human legs erected upwards, with three human heads used as a tripod, was a vessel in the shape of a skull cup, inside which was a glorious torma of red and black color, clear inside and out like a fiery agate, with its own light blazing, and many stakes erected on it. To the right and left were corpses and various kinds of meat, beyond imagination, and many arrangements of alcohol and blood. From all directions came various sounds of music, and many sounds like chanting, accompanied by a roaring sound, but my eyes could not see those things. Then, the skull cup of alcohol that I held in my hand was taken away by a being with a human body and a buffalo head, at which point the great main deity
