The nature of the earth is inherently free. Therefore, both real and unreal, self and other, places and place-holders, pure and impure, etc., that do not abide anywhere, that innate nature is the sole bindu of self-luminous clarity. The primordial resonance, self-luminous and clear, is called awareness, but there is no duality of place and place-holder. With the changing karmic winds and the transformation of bindus, the conceptual mind obscures the dharmadhatu, and one wanders in samsara due to clinging to ego, grasping, and fixation. The co-emergent nature is lost for a long time. Through the power of skillful means, the oral instructions of the guru, and the blessings of the holy ones entering the heart, one's own suchness is manifestly seen from within oneself. At that time, all appearances become self-liberated. Because the co-emergent nature has not been found, all appearances are paths of bondage until then. Once it is found, everything becomes of equal taste. Nothing other than immutable great bliss is found. Emaho! The nature of mind, luminous clarity, is the very essence of mantra. In seeing the face of reality, rest in freedom from fabrication. Quickly attain certainty and confidence. E dzong, having attained it, even the Lord of Death gives rise to a khenpo. Written on the 4th day of the 2nd month of the Earth Ox year by Zilnon Gyepa Tsal. The Essence of Wisdom, a method for cultivating the recognition of rigpa. Homage to the Primordial Protector. In cultivating the recognition of rigpa, recognition, the perfection of power, and the attainment of stability come in sequence. First, with the oral instructions of the lama, cut through hesitation until the naked face of rigpa is seen, free from mental fabrication. Once hesitation is cut, it is crucial to cultivate the recognition of rigpa itself. Mere recognition is not enough; power must be perfected. Even if rigpa is initially recognized, if one does not first settle into it, it will be obstructed by conceptual thoughts, and naked rigpa will be difficult to arise. At that time, without affirming or negating conceptual thoughts, it is crucial to repeatedly settle into and prolong the duration of unfabricated rigpa. By repeatedly familiarizing oneself in this way, the force of the waves of conceptual thoughts diminishes, the recognition of rigpa becomes clearer, and cultivation becomes easier. In meditative equipoise, abide in whatever arises upon it, and in post-meditation, rely on the mindfulness of the recognition of rigpa. By familiarizing oneself with this, the power of rigpa gradually becomes perfected. Initially, even if conceptual thoughts arise, there is no need to rely on other antidotes to stop them. By leaving them in their own place, they will self-liberate in an instant, like a snake's knot unraveling itself. By familiarizing oneself again, even if conceptual thoughts arise and cause slight disturbance, one can...

Immediately, it vanishes on its own, like drawing a pattern on water. By becoming accustomed to it, the arising of thoughts causes no harm, and there is no hope or fear of arising or not arising. Like a thief entering an empty house, a harmless experience arises. By becoming accustomed to that state, the skill is perfected to the ultimate point. Finally, thoughts and the winds that move the basis of everything dissolve into the unfabricated Dharmakaya, and awareness seizes its own ground. Just as one cannot find ordinary dirt and stones when searching in the Golden Land. All appearances and existences appear as the pure land of the Dharmakaya, and when one enters the state of vast purity, it is called obtaining stability, and the hopes and fears of samsara and nirvana, birth and death, are completely destroyed. In this way, just as the daytime appearances of thoughts are integrated into the power of awareness, similarly, at night, one does not need to rely on other instructions to grasp dreams and the clarity of light, whether subtle or coarse. Know that these are similar, and until stability is obtained, one must continuously maintain unwavering diligence like the flow of a river. Mipham's instructions, may goodness increase! Said again: From the great cloud of excellent wisdom, the lightning of scripture and reasoning flashes greatly, the melodious sound of the supreme vehicle's thunder resounds, it is the nourishment that delights the fortunate peacocks. Here, the hundreds of volumes accomplished with countless labors by those renowned as great ones, your words, even when understood, overwhelm them, like the moon among a gathering of stars. Regarding the explanation of the profound and vast scriptures, your intellectual courage is equal to that of the supreme accomplished ones of noble India, but not elsewhere. Now, the pool of views that is extremely unpleasant, polluted by the five degenerations, is purified by your words, an unprecedented and wondrous Kataka. When heard, it brings joy to the mind, when contemplated, it cuts through the net of doubt, when meditated upon, it is a medicine that eliminates all suffering. Your words rival the Fifth Buddha. The edge of pure scripture is beautiful, the thousand spokes of valid reasoning shine brightly, the center of profound secret instructions is perfectly round, your words are accomplished as the wheel of Dharma. Here, those who have minds like mountains of bias mostly hold the Buddha's words to be contradictory. You alone establish all the scriptures of Sutra and Tantra as a single, non-contradictory whole. Others, regarding the consciousness, seek the meaning of the ground, path, and result, like a child combing hailstones, it is just exhausting effort. You are the king of geese, the lineage of the noble ones, the lineage of uncontaminated wisdom...
