And it has the merit of being skilled in distinguishing between what is reasonable and unreasonable, burning the thick forest of perverse wrong views, and guiding the correct path of reasoning as explained in the treatises of the teacher Dignāga, who was personally cared for by the noble Mañjuśrī. This, like making the treatises into daylight, possesses a hundred merits that can clarify the appearance of intelligence. Although those of evil intelligence who reject the sun, like owls, are frightened and abandon it, it causes the lotus of the intelligence of the assembly of wise ones who possess pure eyes of intelligence to blossom. This is a tangible ornament made by combining the five dharmas with the sun. The latter verses were added by the Tibetan translators for the sake of increasing the auspiciousness of benefiting others. The verse commentary on the Compendium on Valid Cognition for the sake of others, that is, the fourth chapter. The fourth chapter, the concluding section, has two parts: the author's colophon and the translator's colophon. First part: The verses of the Compendium on Valid Cognition were composed by the great, unparalleled scholar Dharmakīrti, who was born in the southern region and who caused all evil treatises to fall into extreme confusion, whose fame spread throughout the entire earth, and is completely finished. Second part: The Indian abbot Subhātiśrīśānti Good Auspicious Peace), and the Tibetan translator, the monk Gewai Lodrö, translated it. This is the colophon of the Rma translator. The colophon of the great translator Ngok, the one eye of the world, is: For the glorious and sacred deeds, may there be manifest joy! The great king, possessor of unsurpassed greatness, With virtuous mind, you rule the earth, Urged by the command of the lord of men, For the sake of diligent, especially wise speakers, And listeners, debaters and opponents, certain of the meaning, And pleasant conversation and great feasts to be enjoyed, This ornament, which has become the ornament of the wise of Jambudvipa, has been translated. This treatise, which eliminates all wrong views and is non-dual, Devoted to the thorough investigation of ultimate meaning, Although it is difficult to accomplish because of its many texts and difficult meanings, It is reasonable to strive because of its great fruit. Those who follow the streams of wrong paths, Views are like rivers, difficult to turn back,

If well expressed with correct reasoning, why wouldn't it enter some people's minds? Both sound and meaning can be easily grasped, not tainted by ignorance, and well translated. The taste of the previous holy translators, I now also have. The jewel on the crown of the glorious Kashmiri intellectuals, named Kalden (fortunate), having heard of the king, the wise and virtuous one, Lodensherap, translated this treatise. In the east of the unparalleled great city, in a place called 'Holder of the Wheel' (Yul Khor Lo Dzinpa), near the famous place of accomplishment, in a field called 'Completely Victorious,' it was translated by the great Kashmiri Pandit Kalden Gyalpo and the great Tibetan translator, the monk Lodensherap. Later, in the world, the great scholar, the great mendicant Shakya Shri Bhadra, who was different from all opponents, and the Shakya monk Kunga Gyaltsen Palsangpo, translated, edited, and finalized it. Thus, if these things that have become objects of direct perception are determined without reversing their acceptance and rejection, then one can easily enter the ultimate meaning. Otherwise, if one cannot transcend the dense thicket of inverted clinging, how can one realize the suchness that transcends direct perception, which is the realm to be known individually by the noble ones? Because that is impossible. Therefore, one must first become skilled in the suchness of things that have become its realm through the gate of direct perception, and then one must enter the ultimate meaning. As the great teacher Nagarjuna said: Without relying on conventions, the ultimate meaning cannot be realized. And as the great teacher Lekdenjed said: Without the ladder of correct conventional truths, it is not appropriate for the wise to climb to the top of the correct great mansion. And as Chandrakirti said: Conventional truth becomes the means, and ultimate truth becomes the means-born. As it is said. Therefore, since this kind of reasoning based on the power of things opens and shows the path beyond worldly direct perception, it is very important for those who hold the Shakya teachings to understand this first. Whether explaining sutra or tantra, one must rely on the path of language and conventions.
