If, for those who exist within, due to not being closely connected with the mind, it is impossible to experience the nature of the place in any way. If the mind has no image, then experience is unreasonable. When the mind arises as the image of that object, it does not arise without a cause, therefore, that which the image follows, the creator of the image, that external object must exist. If it is said that the image exists, and it is true that it does not arise without a cause, but does such an undeniable image arise from an external object, or from another cause that is not an external object, from internal habit? This should be worthy of study. But it is not necessarily established that the external object is the cause of it, because it can also arise from other causes, from the awakening of internal habits, because reason does not hinder this. Thus, does this image arise solely from the power of the external object, or does it arise from the activity of the inner mind? If one thinks about this, then reason will never see that it arises from the external object. The reason for this is that the external object itself will never be perceived by the mind, therefore, as a cause, no valid cognition can establish it, just as it is impossible to see the daughter of a barren woman, yet establish it as the cause of the pleasure of touch of the lord of the place. If one wants to know how the external object cannot be seen, then, whatever object it may be, if it is separated from the distinction seen by the mind, that is, the image of "this is this," then one will never grasp the isolated object. Whenever the mind grasps any object, it also grasps the image of the mind, therefore, the appearance of blue, etc., whatever appears, all are merely the appearance of the mind or merely seen by the mind, the color, shape, and particles that appear to the mind, and the fact that they constantly and stably exist in one place in the external object, and any actions such as moving, all that is seen is no different from the appearance of the mind. If one goes beyond these, and the isolated things of the external object exist, but never appear, then how can one experience things and things exist? The reason for the existence of things cannot be established. Second, experiencing blue, etc., in this way is not just experiencing the image of the mind, even if the sense faculty and attention are complete, sometimes the cognition of a pot, etc., does not arise because the object condition is not complete. If it were not so, then the eye consciousness of a pot, etc.

If it is said that the minds of appearing objects sometimes do not change in place and time, because the presence or absence of a pot does not necessarily arise in all directions. This is like surrounding a great fire with a wooden fence. Like this, taking the direction of the presence or absence of a pot as an example, for the tenet that says that everything that appears is only mind, the pot is not visible in the direction where the pot is absent; in the direction where it is present, the pot is visible. Therefore, if one thinks that the external pot exists, it is like farming in a dream. Moreover, in a dream, one sees various different things that one has never seen before, and one develops new knowledge about them; or, one sees things that one has seen before again, and it seems that oneself and others are enjoying it, etc., although it can appear like daytime, this does not prove that external objects exist. Knowledge with stable habitual patterns appears to be real things, but in reality, it appears to function as an external object. Similarly, similar habitual patterns also make people feel that they are enjoying it, because the power of internal interdependence is inconceivable. Because the form of knowledge cannot be measured, the differences in habitual patterns are also infinite, and whichever one is awakened, it will appear. Just as in a dream, places and times seem to be fixed, but not everything appears. Therefore, here too, some of the previous particularities of the inner mind are the cause of fully awakening the habitual patterns of some of the later minds of appearing objects, therefore, consciousness arises in a definite way in certain places and times, but it does not appear in that way depending on external objects. If one must rely on external objects, then there would be no different appearances for the same external object. Without external objects, clear appearances are also impossible. From tiny objects, it is impossible to produce the various world structures of sentient beings, the appearances of dreams, and the phenomena of short periods of time appearing as long periods of time, etc. Here, in Shakya-blo's commentary, it says: The so-called "some consciousness" refers to any entering consciousness. The so-called "inner habitual pattern" refers to the power residing in the alaya consciousness. The so-called "to fully awaken" refers to the ability to generate special consciousness without hindrance.
