Therefore, if external objects do not exist, but appearances arise solely from the power of internal imprints, then the tenets of Mind-Only are easily established. Second, to point out the faults in not accepting the two modes: refuting based on the sense consciousness itself, and refuting based on its object. The first part has two aspects: general and specific. The first: stating the opponent's view and refuting what is not accepted; the aspect of dissimilarity to oneself. First point: Due to the difference in clarity of the senses, for the same object, sometimes it is clear, sometimes unclear, and sometimes a mixture of some parts being clear and some unclear, etc., such as white appearing as yellow, etc., in other forms. Thus, the consciousness that apprehends appearances as different objects exists by focusing on the same entity of the object, not by focusing on different objects. Therefore, for one thing appearing in various forms, if the sense consciousness does not appear in that form of the object, then since the nature of the object is unique, all minds or thoughts that take that object as their object will become without the difference of clarity or unclearness, and become the same nature. Because you believe that you can directly see the nature of the object itself. Second point: This fault is also the same for those who assert the existence of images, because their producers of images are also the same. If one apprehends directly, then it is impossible for the object's own nature to appear differently, but the image is its result, so it is not necessary to follow all the images. Because it arises dependent on the object of the objective condition, and the image that follows the nature of that object is no different from merely being the object of that object, but it is not only the result of the object. Due to some factors of other causes such as the senses, it will also differ from the nature of the object itself in some aspects. For example, when a son is born dependent on his father, the son inherits the father's form, but due to some differences in causes, the son differs from the father in shape and color, etc., so it can be distinguished, but not all aspects are completely the same.

Secondly, refuting and establishing it. Firstly, the circles of lamps and moons, etc., are roundly encircled in the manner of peacock feathers, with colors of blue and red, and bright and clear radiance, but can be seen by unclear eyes. If the appearance of the pattern is not the appearance of the sensory consciousness itself, but those that appear, are objects of things like lamps, or external objects arising from them, then for those objects that can appear, why do those with clear senses not have the ability to generate self-grasping sensory consciousness? Why do those with clear senses not have the ability to grasp it? They should grasp it. Secondly, its object is also not real. For it, it is shown that there is no object. Firstly, such sensory consciousness also knows that there is no object, not just appearance, but because such patterns arise from the causes of lamps, etc., there are external objects, so seeing it is not without an object, but actually seeing such things. If you say so, then how is seeing it a sensory impairment? It will not be like this. If so, then the eye disease becomes the purification of the eye's fault, not a detriment. After purification, what kind of bright eye can see things beyond the senses that ordinary people cannot see, such as the color of peacock feathers, etc. For those who can see these things, there is no eye disease, and what is the thing that others see like? It is not bright. If one can see forms beyond the senses, let alone the objects of the senses, but the one with eye disease thinks that he cannot see like ordinary senses can. Secondly, the generation of sensory consciousness that grasps the lamp, in addition to appearance, sense organs, and attention, the other cause is the function of the lamp as the objective condition, and this must be recognized. Because on the basis of the previous three causes, if one lamp is complete, it will definitely be produced, which is obvious. Once it is determined in this way, no other cause is needed, so the other patterned circles are not the cause of grasping the lamp. If it is not the cause of generating consciousness, then how can it be an object? If it is an irrelevant object, then it is too much. If the patterned circle itself is the cause of self-grasping consciousness, then how can it depend on the lamp? It can also generate sensory consciousness by itself.
