And also because of having connection, for example, the generality of the ear conforms to the ear, because it includes connection, even if it is not connected to the hoof, but because the ear and hoof etc. have connection, so everything is connected through connection, therefore, if one grasps one from the things that have connection, one will also grasp the remaining limbs, if one says so, that is also not reasonable. Without seeing the body, merely seeing a single hair and a little bit of the tip of the horn, it would lead to grasping all the remaining limbs, therefore it is too excessive. Therefore, the so-called characteristic and the thing that has the characteristic, exist in the face of concept, but do not appear in the consciousness without concept, because it is merely a dependent imputation established for the reason of wanting to express, that is, in some cases, any horn etc. is regarded as the nature of a limb or characteristic and is held, merely that which is held will grasp the thing that has the characteristic. For example, when saying "a cow with horns", the horns are said to be the characteristic, when wanting to say "a cow with hooves", the horns are also included in the basis of the characteristic, and the hooves themselves are said to be the characteristic, similarly, all the remaining limbs are also the same. Similarly, for a person wearing white clothes and holding a stick with hair, sometimes he is called a person with a stick, sometimes he is called a person with white clothes, sometimes he is called a person with hair etc., just like this, it is merely established so by the concept of wanting to express. Fourth, multiple things lead to the inability to distinguish other things, therefore, it must be admitted that the inference is about the thing itself and the other. First, refuting the view about the thing itself and the other. First, if you outsiders do not want to simultaneously grasp multiple things, then the self-nature of your pot etc. is merely because there is no difference from other things such as pots, so it will be like this. Just like this, you think that things are different from qualities etc., and distinguishing a certain thing as a pot or a cloth is done through the qualities and types etc. of that thing. Then, when grasping the thing, since the dharma that distinguishes qualities etc. is not grasped, even if other things such as pots and cloths are seen, these two will not be distinguished, but an image of a single mind will arise. Second, it will not be like that, because first grasping the thing that has the dharma, and then later grasping the characteristics such as the qualities of that thing.

If it is said that in order to grasp things, one does not grasp the vase, felt, etc. as one thing, but rather understands them as separate or multiple entities. Even if it is permissible to gradually grasp other things, even so, it would confuse the relationship between the dharma and the dharmī, saying, "This is the distinguishing dharma of these distinguishing bases." The dharma of the felt becomes that of the vase, and the dharma of the vase becomes the form of the felt, because they are never seen simultaneously. Merely seeing other things separately cannot determine the relationship of "This is this," just as one sees the vase, felt, pillar, etc. in sequence. If one thinks that the relationship will not be confused because one sees the subsequent immediately after the former, it is not certain that one sees only the subsequent, just as one sees the vase immediately after seeing the pillar. Therefore, if there is a factor that determines the relationship when seeing other things, then it can be established, but the relationship of jāti (梵文天城体:जाति,梵文罗马拟音:jāti,汉语字面意思: jāti) and so on, which are not the result of things, can never be determined. Secondly, other Sāṃkhyas must also admit that multiple things are grasped simultaneously, because they consider the transformations such as sound to be the nature of the three guṇas (梵文天城体:गुण,梵文罗马拟音:guṇa,汉语字面意思: गुण), therefore it is established that multiple things are not grasped simultaneously. If one thinks that even though they are multiple entities, it is not necessary to grasp multiple things simultaneously, that is not possible. Because they believe that the three guṇas (梵文天城体:गुण,梵文罗马拟音:guṇa,汉语字面意思: गुण) of manifested dust, darkness, and energy cannot be absent even in a single extremely subtle dust, therefore, if these three guṇas (梵文天城体:गुण,梵文罗马拟音:guṇa,汉语字面意思: गुण) are not grasped, its manifested form, sound, etc. cannot be grasped, just as one cannot grasp its manifested form, fist, and accusing gesture without grasping the manifested finger. Secondly, refuting the assertion that non-objects such as universals are objects of the senses. Rejection of contradictory non-sense-consciousness objects, even if there is white, etc., it does not harm, abandon uncertainty about this. First, as stated in the Pramāṇa Sūtra (梵文天城体:प्रमाण सूत्र,梵文罗马拟音:pramāṇa sūtra,汉语字面意思:量经): "The dharma of multiple entities is not a conceptualization arising from the senses, the nature of what is not taught by its own knowable terms is the object of the senses." Now, it is explained in this way. Outsiders have not understood that these heterogeneities that are reversed from non-that, merely rejecting other dharmas, these analyzed jātis (梵文天城体:जाति,梵文罗马拟音:jāti,汉语字面意思: jāti) and so on are merely aspects of rejection, but they assert that they are the direct objects of the senses. This is not so, because of sound and so on.
