The differences in dharmas such as aggregates like earth, sources like eyes, and realms, are all merely imputed based on the distinctions in the functions of their respective objects of designation, which are assembled from many and have characteristics such as the gate of birth and the meaning of lineage. If we examine their very nature, they are merely mentally constructed differences between name and object, and are not truly established. Therefore, it is asserted that these dharmas are devoid of their own characteristics. Second, refuting contradictory reasoning: Although empty, it is reasonable to appear as two; here, uncertainty is dispelled. First, if it is the case that self-awareness, which is empty of two, is established from the beginning, then how can it appear as two in the absence of two? It is true that if there is no defilement, it does not appear, but due to the power of defilement, it appears even though it is not there. This is because the non-afflictive ignorance that has existed since beginningless time appears as the duality of grasper and grasped, and those who cling to appearances are of the nature of defiling the continuum. Whatever habit of the appearance of things as they are, depending on the conditions for awakening oneself, some distinctions of inner consciousness will give rise to the appearance of duality, which is not the suchness of non-duality. For example, those with cataracts see hairs, flies, and two moons, and so on. Therefore, all beings who have not seen the meaning of suchness beyond the realm of duality on this shore do not truly realize the suchness of emptiness of two, because there are no ordinary beings who are without the defilements of grasper and grasped from the beginning. If there is no defilement, then there would be no ordinary beings. Therefore, even though one has experienced bliss and so on in one's own nature without an object, one cannot truly realize it because it is defiled by delusion, just as one cannot see the moment and so on. As it is said in the "Distinguishing Dharma and Dharmata": "When that appears, dharmata does not appear; because that does not appear, dharmata appears." Thus it is said. Therefore, for the Buddhas who have eliminated all defilements caused by delusion, suchness appears as it is, but those with defilements cannot fully realize it as it is. Thus, the self-awareness of emptiness of two, suchness, each

Therefore, it should be understood that the view of the Mind-Only school is the nature of reality in which the two selflessnesses are complete. In the Sutra Requested by Light Protector, it says: "To say 'exists' is one extreme. To say 'does not exist' is another extreme." And so on, applying grasping and being grasped, permanent and impermanent, arising and not arising, etc. What is in the middle of these two extremes? That is unthinkable, unspeakable, without a place, without appearance, without discrimination, without a place. By these, the non-discriminating wisdom is shown. The meaning of these is in the Differentiation of Dharmata: "From non-appearance, two and how it manifests are expressed. Sense faculties, objects, and consciousness, and the container world are without appearance. Therefore, this is unthinkable, unspeakable, without a place, without appearance and without discrimination, without a place. This is the characteristic of non-discriminating wisdom, as stated in the sutra." Just as it is said. Second, it is not certain that if there is no delusion, there will be no dualistic appearance, because even the Buddha, who is free from all delusions, fully revealed the nature of the aggregates, elements, and sources. Therefore, it is said that he spoke in that way because he saw external objects. If so, the Buddha, who is free from the delusion of dualistic appearance, conforms to the thoughts of sentient beings who have dualistic appearance, and temporarily abandons the teaching of the one and only non-dual nature of reality. For example, just as an elephant sees the other side but deliberately does not look and pretends not to see. Similarly, although the Buddha sees the reality, he does not show it to those who cannot understand it, even though he sees it, just like the way an elephant looks. He only conforms to the world, and engages in observing and establishing characteristics of external objects such as form. As the sutra says: "Monks, think as it appears! Do not cling to the opposite of what appears." After teaching in this way, he gradually leads them towards the one and only reality. Second, the answer to conventional terms: It is appropriate to establish one consciousness, but the external object is not similar to it. First, even if it is established that the various appearances of consciousness in ultimate truth are delusions and not real. But in the conventional
