If it is said that it is merely the sound of "now," not possessing the meaning of a cow, such as horns, but like calling a calf a cow due to ignorance or burden. Distinguishing between real designation and false designation is unreasonable. Because here it is argued that if the meaning expressed itself does not exist, then the use of sound is unreasonable. Therefore, even if there is no meaning, if it can be used by false designation, then the opponent's own intention will be destroyed. If so, if there is no cause for sounds and consciousnesses with different meanings, then the sounds and consciousnesses such as "vase" and "one" will become diverse, which is meaningless. Even according to the opponent's view, even if there is no reason for other meanings, but for colors such as white and red, it is considered to have numbers and distinctions such as "one" and "non-other," and the sound expressing these is not diverse, then it will be the same for all things. If it is said that colors such as white also have attributes such as numbers as other meanings, then there is no difference between attributes and entities. Because he himself believes that the characteristic of an entity is to be the basis of attributes and actions, or to be the cause of the combination of these. If so, then white and so on should also become entities, because they are the basis of attributes such as numbers and actions of falling downwards. The claim of these non-Buddhists is that the entity composed of two atoms is a vase, and attributes, actions, and universals exist in relation to each other through combination. There are twenty-four attributes: form, smell, taste, touch, number, quantity six; each has; distinguish three; other and non-other, all consciousnesses; pleasure, pain, desire, anger, effort; heavy, wet, smooth, conditioned; Dharma and non-Dharma, all sounds. This is what is called the twenty-four attributes. Second part: The reason for the use of sounds such as quantity; the necessity of expressing that sound; and the way and examples of expressing it. First, in one's own school, the cow and its quantity are not other different meanings, but through excluding other or opposite distinctions such as "not this quantity," sounds and consciousnesses have different uses. For example, just as the non-Buddhists themselves also say, for white and so on, they will say the sounds of "not this" and "non-entity." If it is said that it is not established in meaning through the opposite way, but through "non-action" and "non-entity," then there should be so many attributes and so on respectively.

It will become important. Secondly, if the things expressed are not different, then saying "the number of cows" and "the whiteness of the pot" is meaningless, is it? For words that express the opposite of things, numbers, etc., correspond to things like pots, just as the law of correspondence, numbers, etc., are different from things, these words that are shown are not meaningless, but it is necessary to grasp the opposite of numbers, etc., on things like pots. Because by cutting off other non-this laws, especially excluding, the expressed thing is understood as special. Thirdly, regarding the words expressing dharma and the possessor of dharma, the words expressing collection and aggregate, and by analogy, admonish to understand others. Firstly, wanting to understand any one aspect of a thing, for all other aspects that exist on that thing, that word does not abandon, that is, it is not discarded as the thing to be expressed, but in some cases, just like saying "having fingers", expressing having fingers and different dharmas, this is the word expressing dharma, because wanting to understand the characteristic "having" on the basis of fingers, so only especially excluding it, thereby eliminating all other aspects. Furthermore, for expressing the same thing to be expressed, even if there is no difference, but because all things existing on that basis will abandon or not abandon, so "fingers become having" is called expressing the possessor of dharma, expressing "having fingers" is merely expressing as a basis, such as expressing "pot". Therefore, all aspects existing on that basis, that word does not eliminate, that is, just as that basis does not abandon all these, that word will also not abandon. Therefore, the basis and characteristics are named depending on mutual association, if expressing like showing no difference, then it becomes the basis, if showing like distinguishing differences, then it only expresses the characteristics depending on that basis, therefore, although it will abandon all other aspects depending on its own basis, the characteristic itself will not abandon all aspects depending on itself, but only analyze depending on the things temporarily set as dharma and the possessor of dharma. Therefore, for the same thing, the words expressing dharma and the possessor of dharma in this way, those ways of understanding things are a convention, not established as different things. Secondly, a lump of eight dust particles gathered together is called a pot.
