Regarding these two, there is no difference in the order or manner of expression in terms of their effectiveness in generating understanding of meaning, and there is no necessity to express both. As it was said before, "Through understanding the meaning, one can understand the other," and so on. Secondly, to abandon the uncertain sign and establish it with certainty: Some others say, "Merely being made does not necessarily mean it will be destroyed, because it depends on other causes of destruction. For example, a pot, merely being made, will not be destroyed, but when it encounters a hammer or something similar, it will be destroyed." If that is the case, then to prove it without relying on the cause of destruction: The pot itself does not depend on a cause of destruction other than the cause that produces it. Therefore, the destruction of the pot is inherently connected to its own nature from the moment the object is established, just like the heat of fire. If the destruction of an object must depend on other causes and not on its own nature, then objects would not necessarily change, or the change would be uncertain. Sometimes it might not change and remain as it is. This is impossible because it has many causes of destruction, and it will always encounter them. Even if you say that, it is possible that it will not encounter them, because it cannot be certain that it will encounter them. Therefore, some things may not be destroyed. Just because there is a cause of destruction does not mean that it will necessarily be encountered. If it were certain to be encountered, then the pot would be destroyed as soon as it was made. Therefore, even though there are causes of destruction, there are things that exist for an eon. Since that is the case, it is possible that it will not be encountered later. How can you be sure that it will be encountered? Therefore, even if a hammer or something similar is a cause of destruction, the mere possibility of being a cause does not guarantee that a result will occur. Just as a hammer is a hammer, it does not guarantee that it will break a pot. Therefore, those who say that destruction depends on other causes, all the causes of destruction they list are mistakes in proving destruction, just like proving that there is a sprout just because there is a seed. Therefore, for the destruction of things like pots, the hammers and so on that are considered to be the cause do not actually have the power to destroy the object. Therefore, this destruction is the nature of the object itself, not dependent on others, just like the wetness of water. And...

Furthermore, the cessation as a cause is also refuted, that is, the intention of those who claim that the destruction of things is the cause is that, because they have not seen things destroyed while they are being established, they know that they cease when they do not exist, and therefore they think that the pot was made non-existent by the hammer. If non-existence produces a cause, then it will become a thing because it becomes the result of another dharma. Therefore, non-existence, because it has no self-nature, can never be a cause. Similarly, foolish people only know about destruction when it is not visible, but they cannot be sure of it before that, just as they have actually tasted poison before, but cannot be sure that it is poison, and only when they see the change of the poison rising later do they just know that it is poison. Haven't you seen the hammer destroying the pot with your own eyes? If the self-nature of a thing is not momentary, then even a hammer cannot destroy it, just as it has not been seen that the sky is destroyed by a hammer. If its own nature is momentary, then there is no need for another destroyer. Moreover, the past moment cannot be destroyed, the present moment has already been established and will not stay in the second moment, and the future moment cannot be destroyed because it has not been produced. Furthermore, a thing that is in existence cannot be destroyed, and a non-existent thing cannot be destroyed. Those people do not think that things are momentary, so they do not think that the pot has passed, but think that the previous pot has existed until now, and then it is destroyed by the hammer. If the pot that was just produced before and the pot that is about to disappear now are the same, then when it is just produced, does it touch the hammer or not? If it touches, then it will be destroyed immediately. If it does not touch, then how does it touch now? If it is thought that there is only a difference between touching and not touching, then if the pot that touches the destroyer and the pot that does not touch are not independent of each other, then even if it touches the destroyer, there will be no difference between destruction and non-destruction, as in the case of not touching. Similarly, the pot that is being destroyed and the pot that is in existence will also become indistinguishable. Therefore, the dust particles of the pot are the material cause, and the hammer is the co-operative condition, and they become the shape of pottery shards. Because the shape of the pot does not appear, it is said that the pot is destroyed, which is only said when a similar successor has not been produced. The moments of the continuum of the pot have already been established, so it will not be destroyed by it.
