That is why it is established in this way. How is that? Because the grasping consciousness of a pot, for the common mind that understands as one, there is no difference in becoming the nature of its cause. The non-conceptual consciousness that grasps the pot, even if the entities are different, is just like the root consciousness that grasps the pot, so there is no difference in kind. Because the object of the common grasping of the pot, the only consciousness, is just the cause of the object, there is no difference and it is the same, so the appearances of the pot, even if the entities are different, are considered to be of the same kind, and there is no fault in establishing it in this way. Therefore, the things that appear in the face of the knowledge of experiencing things, see that the thing has two kinds of functions, doing and not doing. Because of this reason, the discriminating mind does not consider similar things to be different, but mixes them into one kind, and considers dissimilar things to be different, so it is established that the same kind, which comes from the appearance of the root consciousness, arises from the effect of that habitual force. If it is said that the only result itself is a common object, then that which has the only result is also separated from not being the possessor of that result, it is a non-object that excludes others, only that reverse, in addition, for the other appearances that follow, the common object, because it has not been seen that it can appear, and it has also been prevented by the reason of inference before, so it is also not there. Therefore, the names of trees and so on are only to know the exclusion of others who have abandoned dissimilar kinds, or only have the meaning of knowledge. Second, establishing one's own system: Some people think that if the non-object that excludes others is expressed by a name, then that sound will exclude the non-that, projecting it into the realm of consciousness. Even if that consciousness that only excludes the non-that can project into the realm of consciousness like completely excluding that, the sound is only unable to be a real expression, the object that appears to function, and will not become the self-characteristic of obtaining the function, or will not enter into it. If you think like this, then in order to make the discriminating mind that excludes others reasonably enter into things, explain one's own system: producing the common grasping discriminating mind of the pot that has three characteristics, having the dharma of the sound of the pot, even if the self-characteristic of the pot is not a real expression, there is also no deception of the self-characteristic of the pot, because at the time of language and terminology, there are two reasons for not being confused. That is like this, the meaning of the pot that appears in front of the discriminating mind

In general, even if it is not used for holding water, etc., it has a manifestation similar to the function of holding water, etc., that is, mixing appearance and speculation together, and especially clinging to it, which is the first characteristic. The word "similar" does not mean that this speculation considers the speculative appearance and the self-character to be similar, because it does not appear as two parts in front of it. If, after appearing, one clings to it as if a face and an image are similar, then when saying "there is fire," one will doubt whether it is the appearance of fire or the self-character of fire, etc. Such doubts may arise for all statements. However, when using words, due to clinging to the appearance as self-character, if one says "give me fire," then it will be understood as hot and burning in any case. Therefore, if one distinguishes and analyzes, one will find that it is clinging to the speculative appearance as the object to be speculated, so it is called the mind that mixes appearance and speculation. But at the moment of using words, speculation itself mistakenly clings to or considers the speculative appearance to be the self-character of the external object. Therefore, in front of this speculative mind, appearance and speculation are not separated either, because it appears as if there is no difference from the self-character of things, so it is said to be similar to the function of things, which is from the perspective of separate analysis. For example, when saying "vase," only the function of holding water appears in the mind; when saying "small vase," the object of holding water appears to be small in shape, etc. As the word adds differences, the corresponding meaning appears in the mind and clings to the self-character. In this way, mistakenly considering the general meaning as self-character is the cause of fabricating the existence of the general that follows the things that appear to later consciousness, but it will not become the cause of fabricating self-characters as the general. For example, the cause of the error of producing other similarities will become the cause of fabricating the vase as permanent, but permanence itself will not become the cause of fabricating it as a vase. The second characteristic is: different from all things of the same and different kinds, it is merely the seed of the object of the self-character of things itself excluding other things, that is, it is produced from the habitual imprints of seeing the self-character. If even the general meaning of a heavenly realm, which has not been actually seen before,
