Consciousness arises from the mind. If the previous mind has such a pulling force, then later it will also arise in the manner of a pulling cause. Second, avoiding contradiction with the scriptures: If the Buddha clearly said in the Dharma that body and mind are mutually following, relying on each other like a spear and a house, isn't this contradictory? Because the consciousness arising from relying on the senses of the body helps the mind, so the sutras say that the mind relies on the body. If it is said that consciousness does not arise without a body with senses, because it has not been seen. Then, the situation where the senses are made the cause of consciousness has also not been seen. Even so, they are mutually the cause, and one does not arise without the other, therefore they are mutually the cause, so they continue continuously without beginning or end. Second, specifically refuting the arising of consciousness from a non-momentary permanent body: It is impossible for sequential consciousness that is different before and after to arise from a non-sequential permanent body, because if the cause has no sequence, then the effect will also become non-sequential. If it is said that sequential consciousness arises depending on conditions, then the cause itself is a non-sequential permanent, and conditions cannot make it produce differences before and after, therefore it does not depend on others. If various consciousnesses arise sequentially from one non-sequential body, then the effect, that is, the sequence of consciousness, clearly shows that the cause of that body is also sequential, because if the causes are not different, it is impossible for different effects to arise. In this way, each moment of body, breath, senses, and consciousness is the cause of the subsequent moment that arises without a previous one. Because of that reason, that kind of moment of cause is visible or existent in all moments of birth and death. Because the moment of effect cannot arise without the previous moment, and the moment without obstacles and possessing all causes will definitely produce the same kind of subsequent moment. Second, regarding the afterlife. A brief indication without proof, and a detailed explanation of its meaning. First, when life ceases, the dying consciousness, that is, the consciousness of the last moment, is connected to another consciousness of the next world.

So, what contradiction is there in refuting? Because these two are not unable to coexist, and have not become mutually exclusive and opposing states, so why not combine them? They should be combined. Second, refuting obstacles and debates. First, the example is not established and there is no reason. First, the Lokayata says: Whatever dying mind, that very one does not follow into another life. Because it is a dying mind, for example: the faultless wisdom at the time of death. Thus it is said, the ordinary person's dying consciousness, the dharma, does not produce its own result, that is, the wisdom of the next life, because it is a dying mind, like: the dying mind that is considered to be an Arhat. Thus it is said. For this, giving an example is meaningless, because the mind of an Arhat at the time of death is also considered to have no reason to be combined. The reason for abandoning craving, etc., as stated by Buddhism, is not accepted by you, because you believe that there are no Arhats in the world. If you say, because you yourself have promised. Then, are you yourself following the tenets of other meaningful ones that have not been established by valid cognition? Just that is not enough to establish that there is no afterlife. Second, refuting the unestablished self-assertion. First, if you do not establish the example merely by following the tenets, but because at the time of death, the mind is separated from the causes of arising, such as breathing and the senses. Then, why not say from the beginning that the reason is being separated from the cause, instead of saying the uncertain reason, because it is a dying mind? Even so, why not say here that the mind of the afterlife is not separated from the cause? Therefore, that is not an established reason. Second, refuting arising from a body with senses. Refuting arising from a body without senses. First, if a body with senses is the cause of consciousness, then is each sense the cause? Or is the collection of all senses the cause? If you say that each sense is the cause, then if the eye alone is the cause of consciousness, then like the consciousness of the eye, consciousness would also only clearly grasp form, but that is not certain. Because consciousness is able to decide all objects, and even without the eye sense, there is consciousness that distinguishes form. Similarly, the rest of the ears, etc., can also be inferred.
