O. Second, what is this "Pramana"? Is it something that is established without deceiving the object itself? Or is it something that needs to be established as Pramana by other causes and conditions? If it is the former, then there is no need for a treatise on Pramana, because it has already been established as Pramana itself. If it is the latter, then the proof will become endless, and a momentary wisdom that has not been established as Pramana itself cannot be established as Pramana again. Furthermore, is it certain that this wisdom does not deceive itself, or does it need to be determined by other causes? If it is the former, then no one will be confused about Pramana and non-Pramana, so the treatise on Pramana is meaningless. If it is the latter, if there is no non-deception in oneself, then others cannot do it. Furthermore, if the object and the subject, the moment and the subtle and coarse, etc., are analyzed, Pramana cannot be established, so it is meaningless to make a treatise on Pramana. If you accept it without analysis, then there is no difference between Pramana and non-Pramana, and they are all the same. In order to answer these three arguments, there are two kinds of perception: self-cognition and other-cognition. Trust, habit, and not grasping the cause of confusion, etc., are the wisdom that is not confused about that object, and perception can be determined by its own power. For example, seeing a red thing and thinking, is this a flower cluster or a pile of jewels? For gray things, it is not certain whether it is steam or smoke, etc., and the details are determined by habit or trust, or it is determined by other signs, so that it is recognized that this wisdom is not confused, etc., these are determined by other reasons. All inferences are determined from oneself. Such a Pramana wisdom does not deceive the object, just as it was shown above by the three functions of action, object, and action, which is the way of doing things in worldly terms. It is impossible to destroy it by analyzing moments, etc., because it is only a term that is undeniably established in the world's own appearance without deception, and it will not be negated even by ultimate analysis. Therefore, Pramanas are all wisdoms that start from the measurer itself and conform to the situation of the measured object itself, so as to recognize its essence. Therefore, in the later analysis of terms, wisdom is divided into two types: "whether this wisdom is consistent with the meaning" or "not consistent with the meaning," and the wisdom that correctly measures the object is established as Pramana itself.

Although it is not for the purpose of re-establishing validity, it is meaningful because it dispels the ignorance of not recognizing valid cognition as valid, and of falsely attributing validity to non-valid cognition. Third, the actual text and the refutation of doubts about it. First, some scholars' treatises state that the definition of validity is the clarifier of what is not understood. Here, it is said to be unerring knowledge. Is this not contradictory? It is not contradictory, because the clarifier of what is not understood is also the definition of validity. Regarding this, these two definitions can be applied separately to the definitions of validity in conventional and ultimate terms, or both can be combined to be considered the complete definition of validity, or there are three views that consider them to be the same meaning, but only the latter should be adopted. If there are many different definitions, wouldn't the definition of validity be endless? No, because these two are only different in their verbal expressions, and there is no difference in meaning. How so? The knowledge that clarifies what is not understood is unerring with respect to that object. And the unerring knowledge is also the clarifier of that which is not understood. Second, for example, when a general consciousness arises that ascertains blueness after directly realizing the nature of a blue object, it also obtains the definition of "clarifier of what is not understood," and therefore it becomes too broad. Because the general consciousness is newly arisen and was not there before, and it is also the clarifier of the meaning of the general object that was not understood before. If one thinks that "object" refers to the state of the object's own characteristics, which was not understood before and is now newly understood, then there is no over-extension to decisional consciousness. Because it has already been apprehended by direct perception, and now it is apprehended in a general way, there is no new realization of the object's own characteristics. How do we know that "object" refers to its own characteristics? Because the object of engagement for conventional analysis is the occasion for examining whether the nature of a functional thing is deceptive or not, and then establishing the definition of validity. Because it is certain that meaning cannot be obtained from the general alone, therefore it is not analyzed for deception, as explained in detail above. Second, therefore, the Sugata is shown to be valid. Establishing that which has become valid as one's own system. Refuting the other's system that asserts self-origination as valid.
