Therefore, bondage and liberation are reasonable. If there is a "self," then it is not reasonable. First point: This "self" is not the nature of samsara. Attachment to "self" is said to be the cause of samsara. First point: If the "self" or sentient beings are inherently the nature of samsara, then there is never any possibility of liberation from samsara, is that so? It is not so. If there is a "self" and it is the nature of samsara, then it is assumed that there is no liberation; because the "self" does not exist, it can never be established that it becomes the nature of samsara. Another way of explaining: If samsara is permanent, then there is no liberation, is that so? Even if it is assumed that if samsara is permanent there is no liberation, the argument that samsara is permanent is not established. Or, it is assumed that there is no liberation while being in samsara, and it is not established that one can never be liberated from samsara. Or, understand it from the perspective of a moment, or think about it from the perspective of continuity, and that is not established. Or, understand it from the perspective of ultimate truth, and it is not established in terms of conventional truth. Or, assuming that there is a "self" and it is samsara is like you outsiders; but according to the view of the inner Buddhist path that proclaims no-self, it is not established that there is no liberation. Such as these Although there are various statements, their key points are consistent in meaning. Second point: There are two parts, the main text and the refutation and rebuttal to it. First point: If there is no "self," then who will suffer and who will be liberated? Therefore, in order to be liberated from suffering, no one will study the path, so the "self" is the basis of bondage and liberation, is that so? If there is a "self," then liberation is completely impossible, which has already been proven. Even if there is no "self," there will be suffering due to clinging to the "self." As long as one does not see the absence of self, one will cling to and be attached to the "self," and due to clinging to the "self," one will continuously wander in samsara. Although there is no "self," it is clung to as if it exists, and due to the craving of the "self" wanting happiness and wanting to be separated from suffering, one will suffer all kinds of suffering in samsara. As long as this is the case, one will falsely impute that the "self" is suffering through conceptualization, and therefore will not abide in the true nature of no-self and no suffering. Just like there is no snake, but once the illusion of a snake arises, until one sees that there is no snake, one will suffer from fear and so on as if there is a snake. Therefore, even if there is no true "self" of the liberated one, there will be an inverted perception that there is a "self" that is the basis of happiness and suffering.

In order to destroy the clinging to self, the Buddha taught the true Dharma, which is to strive to practice the meaning of non-self, and to obtain liberation from the thorough familiarity with this meaning. Therefore, it is completely reasonable to obtain liberation from non-self. Second, concerning the non-abiding of the detached in samsara, and the abandonment of existence in the first path. First, abandoning the real and the doubts about it. First, if craving is the cause of samsara, then as soon as one is free from craving, one will not remain in samsara even for a moment, because one has abandoned the view of self, and there is no expectation of benefit for oneself, so one will immediately enter nirvana, is that so? It is not like that. There are two reasons why a person who is detached from desire remains in samsara: Buddhas and Bodhisattvas take birth and abide with great love for sentient beings, or Arhats with remainder abide for as long as the aggregates of life continue due to past karma. Because they believe that driven by the power of karma, it will not stop spontaneously without effort. Just as a fire burning on wood will burn until the firewood is exhausted, it will not extinguish itself. Even if they abide in this way, it is not because they expect to benefit themselves, etc., but because the clinging to self has been exhausted. As it is said: One should not be happy to die, nor should one be happy to live. For example, like the wages of a hired worker, I am just waiting for the time. Just as it is said like this. Second, refuting the argument that one abides by karma, refuting the argument that one abides by compassion, and showing that there is no fault even if one abides. First, if Arhats who have abandoned the cause of samsara abide by karma, then in order to see the power of karma, will they also be born into existence in the future due to the power of karma, is that so? It is not like that. Because the karma of detachment that has transcended the craving for existence, which is the joy of the future body, cannot itself propel another future body, because the co-operative cause, craving, has been exhausted. Second, compassion is the desire to save sentient beings, and if so, then the detached one has not abandoned the clinging to sentient beings, and if the clinging to sentient beings is abandoned, compassion will not arise, and if others harm the object of compassion, they will be angry, and to sentient beings
