Yes, for what there is no craving, that is completely not grasping, just like people treat a pile of rags, etc. Therefore, due to the power of craving for existence, constantly engaging in various actions, entering into existences is continuous and unceasing. So, how does craving lead to places like the evil realms? At the time of the cause, due to the power of craving, accepting the actions that lead to the evil realms, when the result is achieved, even if unwilling, suffering will not cease until the karma is exhausted, just like craving poisonous food and eating it, even if one does not want the suffering of physical illness, it will occur, and that is also caused by craving. Even when dwelling in the evil realms, there is no lack of craving for one's own continuum of aggregates. The initial entry into such aggregates is based on craving caused by the power of karma and the delusion of perverted ignorance, just as previously explained. Therefore, for what there is no craving, one does not take it, so the cause of obtaining that realm ceases, just like those who temporarily separate from the desire of the lower realms and the Arhats who have completely exhausted attachment. Second, why is only the craving for existence the origin? Just as it says in the sutra: What is the noble truth of the origin? It is this craving, which is of the nature of origin, possessing joyful desire, greatly rejoicing in it and it, just like desire craving, existence craving, and non-existence craving. Is it because of this saying? It is not contradictory to the meaning of the scriptures. The craving to approach the place of birth, such as the womb, that is the desire for existence. If so, why are sentient beings not led by Ishvara and others, but rather engage in wanting to obtain and abandon happiness and suffering themselves? Those are respectively called desire craving and non-existence craving. Wanting to obtain happiness is desire craving, wanting to abandon or destroy suffering is non-existence craving, so for existence, one engages in it in that way with the thought of abandoning and taking. Furthermore, desire craving is craving for the dharmas of the desire realm, existence craving is craving for the higher realms, and non-existence craving is dwelling on wanting to abandon suffering.

It is so. So, where does craving arise from, and how does it cause beings to enter into existence? It actually arises from the very cause of attachment to self. How does it enter? Due to the inverted perception of considering what is not happiness as happiness, it intensely enters into all states of birth, such as the womb. Therefore, craving is the basis or cause for the accomplishment of existence. The third part has two points. First, no birth of someone without attachment has been seen. Because no one has ever been seen who, immediately after birth, does not accept milk and other things, attachment is the cause of birth. This is what the former teacher Vasubandhu and others have said. For example, the teacher Vasubandhu said: Because the birth of a person without desire has not been seen, birth is the reason for desire. To this, the Lokayata (materialist) said: Well then, since attachment is not seen in the bodiless either, desire also arises from the body. What the Lokayata said is unreasonable. What does it mean that attachment is not seen in the bodiless? Is it said because the body is considered merely a condition for the arising of attachment? Or is it because the body is considered the immediate cause of attachment? Although birth without attachment has not been seen, what does it mean to say that in birth with attachment, the body is also a condition for attachment? If it is like the first case, although it is true that the attachment seen in the embodied is seen in that embodied being, we also admit that the body of that embodied being is indeed a condition for attachment, and therefore it is a reason that helps the arising of attachment, which is what we desire. If it is like the second case, since the mind arises from the body, the very assertion that the body is the immediate cause of attachment has already been refuted by reason. If it is like the third case, since birth without attachment has not been seen, if one follows this reasoning and asserts that those who take a body and cling to birth are not free from attachment, then the Lokayata's own commitment will contradict his own assertion that there is no previous birth, because it will be established that the mind with attachment takes that body. There is no other speculation besides these three. If one says that even if there is no prior mind with attachment, but only because attachment is seen at birth, the body...
