Since they do not arise, how could those be without a cause? To say such a thing is a sign of extreme foolishness. Second, if the nature of a cause is such that without tactile sensation there is no form, and if there is tactile sensation there is also form, then what is tangible would also be the cause of eye consciousness, if you say so. Tactile sensation, if it is not with form, abides in the nature of not arising, therefore it is considered to be the cause of form. The previous tactile sensation is the co-emergent auxiliary condition of the present form, and the present tactile sensation of the same aggregate also abides inseparably. Therefore, that tactile sensation is the cause of indirectly helping to see form, therefore there is no contradiction in being a cause. If the cause of eye consciousness is tactile sensation, then eye consciousness will grasp tactile sensation, if you say so. Just being a cause does not mean that it grasps it, just as sense consciousness does not grasp the sense faculty itself. Second, suffering does not arise without a cause, but arises from a permanent cause, if you say so. To say that is not reasonable, because in general, the arising of results from permanent phenomena has been previously refuted. It is also not uncertain for special permanent phenomena, because it is considered to be a distinction of permanent phenomena, such as the knowledgeable Great自在天(Maheśvara,梵文:महेश्वर,Maheshvara,伟大的自在天), Brahma, 遍入天(Vishnu,梵文:विष्णु,Vishnu,毗湿奴) etc., will not produce results from permanent phenomena, because whatever is permanent. As long as it is permanent, there is no ability to act sequentially or simultaneously, because it is established by the reasoning of the power of things. Second, identifying the cause of birth as craving. Explaining the meaning by combining that with the scriptures. Refuting disputes about that. First, as just said, the contaminated near-taking existence with the nature of suffering is completely accomplished, that is not without a cause, nor is it from a permanent cause, therefore, the craving for existence is the cause of accomplishing the aggregate of suffering. Like this, the aggregate of sentient beings, including ordinary, inferior, and intermediate, is called existence. This is accomplished by the power of each person's craving. Because of what? Because the distinctions of objects that are completely grasped by ordinary people and so on, that is, places and friends and enjoyments, etc., are completely grasped without abandoning, and however many those are, they are all done by the thought of wanting to obtain them, craving.
