The Sakya school says that if it is said that way, all distinctions between valid and invalid cognition will disappear. Therefore, impure things do not exist separately from the pure self-appearance. As the Compendium Sutra says: "One should know that the purity of form is also the purity of the fruit. The fruit and the purity of form, all-knowingness is also pure. All-knowingness, the purity of the fruit and the purity of form, are like the realm of space, inseparable and indivisible." Thus, when the object-possessor is purified from defilements, seeing the object as pure is the manifestation of the object's nature, like the mistaken appearance of perceiving a white conch as yellow. Secondly, it is also established by reasoning. Thus, seeing different appearances in one object is manifestly established and well-known in the world. If one becomes accustomed to the non-duality of all phenomena and the realm of self-nature purity, then the unique appearance distinguished by the purity of self-nature will give rise to the ultimate clarity of appearance, which is established by inference. The root reason has pervasiveness, because seeing with purity is non-inverted, therefore whatever is seen by it necessarily abides in reality as it is. If it is not pervasive, then seeing with purity becomes false, and seeing with impurity becomes true, thus one must admit that the noble ones have inverted consciousness, and ordinary people have correct consciousness. Who would speak of such a teaching with respect and understanding? Thus, higher views can refute lower views, but lower views cannot harm higher views. As the Engaging in Bodhisattva Deeds says: "The eye obscured by cataracts cannot harm the consciousness without cataracts, likewise the power of wisdom free from defilements cannot harm the undefiled wisdom." Therefore, in the immeasurable vision of the Buddha who has completely purified defilements, all phenomena are seen in a pure manner, and since nothing can be subtracted or added from it, it is established that this is the ultimate state of conventional phenomena. Therefore, for all these conventional phenomena, it is extremely important to understand the way they appear in illusion and the way conventional reality itself abides. Because the valid cognition that measures conventionalities is merely the limited view of ordinary people, and what is seen by it is merely conventional.

To think that this is the ultimate state of affairs is to have a very narrow view. Upon careful examination, one would find that even the distinction between valid and invalid perceptions of white and yellow conches is not understood, which is utterly foolish. If there were no other state of affairs than what is seen by ordinary people, then the appearance of a yellow conch to someone with yellow vision would also become the true state of the conch. If one thinks that this is a perception tainted by delusion and not a true perception of the state of affairs, then these impure appearances tainted by reversed habitual tendencies, even if seen by ordinary people, must be acknowledged to be in accordance with the perceptions of those pure beings who are free from the taint of habitual tendencies. Therefore, to reveal a very profound point, there are two kinds of conventional valid cognition: conventional valid cognition based on this-worldly vision and conventional valid cognition based on pure vision. The reason for these two is that they do exist. To briefly discuss the differences between the two, in terms of the four aspects of cause, essence, function, and result: The cause of the first is born from the power of properly examining the object of one's own limited phenomena. The essence is the intelligence that does not deceive temporarily in its own object. The function is to eliminate the superimposition on the object of this-worldly vision. The result is to completely determine the matter at hand and then proceed. The cause of the latter is obtained from following the proper contemplation of the nature of reality as it is. The essence is the vast wisdom with countless objects. The function is to eliminate the superimposition on the inconceivable realm of experience by the this-worldly vision of ordinary beings. The result is the accomplishment of the wisdom that knows all. The example of these two is like the eyes of humans and gods, where the latter knows the realm seen by the former, but the former does not know the realm seen by the latter. Therefore, the unique object of the latter is: the appearance of fields equal to the number of atoms within the space of a single atom, the demonstration of activities of many eons in a single moment, the demonstration of the play of emanations without moving from the unchanging dharmadhatu, the simultaneous knowledge of all knowable objects by a mind free from conceptual thought, and so on. Any inconceivable realm of experience that appears contradictory to the this-worldly vision of ordinary people cannot be proven.
