He said: Since the king himself could not travel through the realms, he sent a messenger to summon you here, and thus you arrived. When he was seen, all the people of the land bowed in reverence, and he reassured them, saying: “Do not be afraid.” He then dispensed generosity in accordance with the Dharma. To the poor, the destitute, and the helpless, he granted relief. To the inhabitants of the country and the towns, he offered respect as if to his own parents and children; to all living beings and animals, he acted with equality, personally embracing them. The elders, youths, and women of the land regarded the Great Physician as their own son and relative. He brought joy to all, and in the end, he united the entire land as one, and entered the royal palace together with the king who had prospered. Because of such deeds, his reputation spread pleasantly even to other kings. Then the king, filled with joy, gave his own daughter in marriage to the Great Physician as chief consort, and they enjoyed pleasures together. At that time, in another land, a king whose fortunes had declined came before the King of Prosperity, who did not wish to receive him, and instead directed him to the Great Physician. The Great Physician, with compassion, accepted him and bestowed wealth upon him. Later, a Brahmin came to beg; the Great Physician agreed to give, entrusting it to the treasurer, but the treasurer withheld it and did not give. Later, at a certain time, the King of Prosperity, surrounded by ministers, villagers, and country folk, was in a place where many thousands bowed to him. The king spoke: “O ministers, to whom should secrets be entrusted? To whom should the mind be firmly relied?” The ministers reflected, and one said: “To a close friend,” another: “To a wife,” another: “To a mother,” another: “To a sister and father,” another: “To a son.” The king then asked the Great Physician: “When others think and speak thus, why do you remain silent?” The Great Physician replied: “Lord, I think secrets should not be entrusted to anyone. How could one disclose them to a wife? This, I will declare openly before the eyes of the gods.” Thereafter, at another time, the king’s noble steed suddenly perished...

The great physician sought it, hid it in another place, and took another similar one, asking his wife, "Have you heard that the peacock is lost from the royal palace?" She also said she had heard. The great physician told his wife, "Do not tell anyone, cook this peacock and eat it." She thought, "This mountain rock dweller will eat the king's peacock. My father trusts this person very much, and this person will harm the king." Again, at one time, he adorned a prostitute who resembled the king's consort with all kinds of ornaments, placed her among my women, and told his wife, "This is the king's consort. I trust her very much. If you love me, do not tell anyone." The king's daughter thought, "This person is staying with the great physician," and angrily rebuked her father, saying, "My father is like this, knowing nothing about matters. He places the evil people of the mountain rocks at the head of the ministers, entrusting all the king's affairs to this evil person. How can this be reasonable? I should put him back in his old place as before." Having thought this, she told her father, "Father, you have placed this evil person in the position of minister without investigation. This person consorts with the consort, eats the peacock, and befriends people from other countries, providing them with supplies. If Father considers the great physician the worst of all, you should know what kind of behavior this person has." Having spoken thus, the king, in order to investigate this matter, ordered the executioners, "Kill him." Those people of evil lineage, wearing garlands of karavira flowers around their necks, beating drums like those in the Tibetan language, cursing and threatening with harsh words, wielding weapons like Yama's messengers, led him to the cemetery, but no one wanted to kill him. All the people of the city shed tears, uttering sounds of suffering as if they had lost a son, and prayed to the gods. For some time, the great physician befriended the poor royal family, distributing wealth and possessions. Because of this generosity, he (the great physician) told the king's subjects, "We will kill this person, and you will again
