It was done. This account, similar to others, tells that in the presence of the royal son named "Dust," the royal priest Brahmin named "Protector of the World" recited. This lineage is found in the "Hundredth Section of the Sutra Collection." Once, in the past, when the Bodhisattva Mahāsattva, a great king, was established as the overlord by the many minor kings, he governed the land according to Dharma. Yet, due to the negative karma of sentient beings, no rain fell, and there was famine and hardship. The king reflected: “Because we have not properly protected the nine classes of beings, faults have arisen.” Thus he summoned the elder Brahmins and asked: “By what means may we avert this harm?” They replied: “According to ritual practice, if many living beings are slain as offerings, rain will fall.” But the king, endowed with compassion, did not approve of killing beings. Yet, to remain harmonious with his ministers and attendants, he refrained from speaking harshly, letting the matter pass. The Brahmins, not understanding the king’s deep and subtle mind, deliberated to carry out such a sacrifice. The king thought: “These men, unwise, place their trust wrongly. They say killing pleases the gods, and that livestock after death will go to heavenly realms. This is false, utterly foolish, not to be believed. Yet I must apply skillful means.” So he said: “If you truly wish to perform offerings, then I shall arrange a great alms-giving to ten thousand men. Select the auspicious date and planetary conjunction for the rite.” The Brahmins said: “Indeed, if a king prepares baths and provisions for sacrifice, then if we gather ten thousand men, rain will descend, demons will not harm, and the people will have joy.” The king replied: “So be it. Only ensure that the people do not rise in disorder. I shall do as you have said.” Thereupon, the king assembled the townspeople and declared: “I wish now to make an offering to ten thousand men. Let no fault occur.”

If I can't do something, where would I go? This is because, the benefits ahead will not allow you to leave from here, which still seems hard to comprehend. In the end, it is only with long-term benefits that we can proceed with what we do. Anytime, anywhere, make changes, and go to the places you are interested in. As a king, we must make sure that everyone gets equal treatment.

The crops grow luxuriantly, the medicinal materials are rich in nutrients, all beings are free from illness, enjoying physical and mental well-being, and are free from the fear of foreign invasions, just like in a perfect era. Everyone feels satisfied and praises the king. At that time, a minister reported to the king: "If you always pay attention to the needs of the supreme, the middle, and the inferior, then the wisdom of those in power will become more and more brilliant." This is well said. Like a deity, you have no fault of causing livestock to die, and through the offering of Dharma, you have given the people the benefits of this life and the next. By pacifying all disasters and poverty, the people rely on you and are blessed. And so on, words of praise. Therefore, those who are virtuous and wise, even if they are tempted to do evil, will not be deceived, and those who are skilled in methods, even if they are inclined to evil, can lead them to the path of goodness, and one should respect those who can accomplish the great cause of benefiting both oneself and others. Also, once upon a time in the place of Stone Heap, there was a Brahmin named Moon Sound, and he had a son named Sun and Moon. What happened was that this sick Brahmin was abandoned by his wife and son, and a maid healed him by begging for medicine, so he gave the maid five hundred gold coins, intending to free her from slavery. But this maid strongly demanded to enjoy herself with him. The maid had intercourse with him during her menstrual period, and thus became pregnant. The Brahmin's former wife was jealous of her, beat her and gave her coarse food. The maid thought: This unfortunate life is in my womb, but I don't eat or dress well and I am beaten, I might as well abandon it. So she planned to put the fetus in a copper pot and discard it. The Brahmin Moon Sound saw it and asked her. She then told the story. The Brahmin said: I will raise him and know the time of his birth. He said to the Brahmin's wife: Poor woman, you and your son abandoned him, but this maid saved his life. It would be best if you could take good care of her, otherwise let her be the mistress and you be her maid. The Brahmin's wife was afraid and promised not to offend her again, and named the child Copper Pot.
