You are the chief of ministers. Therefore, I shall take such wealth to please him. After praying to the deity in this way, surrounded by a great assembly of ministers of great physicians, Brahmins, householders, and a fourfold army, they went to the house of the father-in-law in a dense forest-covered mountain, took the bride, and together with her, they played and rejoiced in their own city. At that time, five hundred merchants came from the north, carrying many horses as merchandise, to Jambudvipa, to the presence of the king's father. There were five hundred prostitutes in that place, skilled in appearance, arts, and thoughts, who would impoverish all the merchants who came from anywhere. Therefore, the merchants from the north also each promised to serve the prostitutes in turn, and together with them, they stayed in play and joy. The leader of those merchants, a cautious man, was desired by the chief prostitute, but despite showing various behaviors, she could not succeed. She pleaded with the merchants, "Please find a way for me and the leader to be in harmony." Although the merchants and prostitutes feasted daily, the leader did not fall under the influence of recklessness. Then, the prostitute herself laughed and joked with the leader. The leader said, "If you cannot deceive me, why bother?" She said, "If I can deceive you, what will the wise one give me?" He said, "I will give five excellent horses." The prostitute said, "If you cannot be deceived, then you must follow me in the future, even if there is no Karshapana." After the two made such vows, they tried hard to get close, but they could not succeed. The merchants then said, "Leader, who would not be tempted by leaving the chief prostitute in the main city? It is the way of the world." The leader said to them, "Friends, let us fully enjoy it in our dreams at night." Thus, the merchants spoke to the chief prostitute, and she had the king's men, who were her friends, seize the leader, saying, "Since you want to indulge in desire with me, give me five excellent horses." The leader, calling her a wicked woman, said, "You are speaking falsely!"

The two entered the king’s palace and stayed until sunset. Since the queen’s womb could not be opened and the nature of the child within was unknown, all ministers became anxious and disheartened. Out of hunger and distress, they returned to their homes saying they would examine again later. The great physician asked the son of Lord Saga about the cause of that day. He replied: ‘Such is the matter of not being able to cut open the tongue. O Saga! If your reasoning and discernment are complete, yet you cannot sever this tongue, that is the very way of human birth.’ The physician asked: ‘Then, can you sever it?’ He replied: ‘Look at the power of my mind, I am capable of doing so.’ Then, near a pond, he placed five horses and gathered the ministers, inviting them to stay there. If a merchant truly desired to unite with both women, he should be told: ‘Take these five horses.’ If he said he only united with them in a dream, then he should be shown the reflections of the horses in the water and told: ‘Take these.’ If he asked what use it was if they could not be taken, then reply: ‘Just so, to enjoy desire in dreams is the same.’ Hearing this, the physician was astonished, and following his words, severed the tongue, causing all the ministers to marvel as well. The king asked the physician: ‘Whence came this method, that prevents us and others from affliction?’ He replied: ‘This is the method of Saga.’ Ministers and the people declared: ‘The daughter of the farmer, Saga, is most skilled and wise.’ Thus, her fame spread throughout the land. Later, a merchant from the northern region offered two wild asses to the king, saying: ‘If they are not mother and child, then no one else would seek them.’ The king did not know, and asked the physician. The physician asked Saga: ‘Which one sheds hair?’ She replied: ‘The mother. The one with soft hair is the son.’ The king marveled greatly. Likewise, a venomous snake displayed two serpents to the king. The king did not know their nature. The physician again asked Saga. Saga laughed and said: ‘If this meaning is not understood, then even though the king and ministers possess great reasoning and discernment, it is in vain.’
