Then, Indra returned to his own abode. There, the Bodhisattva became famous by the name "Possessing Form." When the king of that land died without a son, the ministers and others deliberated and said, "This young Possessing Form possesses all the characteristics of a king, so we should enthrone him as king." So they made him king. He ruled the entire land with dharma and law, the people were happy, the rain fell at the right time, everything went smoothly, and everything prospered. When that ruler sat on the lion throne, he said to all the people, "The fruits of my generosity, such as the wealth I have obtained in this life, are only like flowers. In the future, I will obtain the vast fruit of becoming a Buddha. So who would not respect the merit of discipline and generosity?" He taught the dharma in this way, leading the people onto the path of virtue. Furthermore, in the past, there was a great merchant like Vaishravana, named Moonlight. He gave great alms and learned all the treatises and poems from virtuous teachers, so that the rays of his fame as a scholar spread everywhere. His five hundred attendants of his teachers said to him, "You are very compassionate, so even if someone came to beg for your life, you would give it, wouldn't you?" He replied, "A beggar is a special help to a giver, so why wouldn't I be compassionate to them? Of course, I would be compassionate." They asked, "If you give like that, what do you want to obtain, such as the position of a ruler or a Chakravartin?" He replied, "I do not want the unstable happiness of samsara, I want to obtain unsurpassed Bodhi in order to liberate all sentient beings." They were very happy to hear this and left. After some time, that great being thought, "I should do something for the sake of beggars, now I should satisfy the animals with my own flesh and blood." So he took weapons, honey, and butter, and without telling his relatives and friends, he went to the cemetery at night, examined the piles of corpses, cut off attachment, and cut off all his limbs with sharp weapons, smeared them with honey and butter, let them drip down, and fed them to the ants and vultures. At that time, fierce birds...

After gouging out his eyes, he said to him again: Do you feel great pain from gouging out your eyes? The Bodhisattva said: If my body is discarded because it is of no use to anyone, then it will be painful. If it is taken away because it is useful to someone, why should I be in pain? Instead, I feel very happy. Then the birds ate all his flesh, leaving only bones. The next day, a group of relatives came searching, and when the father saw him, he asked him, and he told what had happened, and the father collapsed in grief. There, he uttered various lamentations, cremated the bones of the Bodhisattva, and returned to his home. There, the sound of heavenly music and a rain of flowers fell. Furthermore, the Blessed One, this young Brahmin, after receiving the prophecy of the Dharma in the Cloud Prophecy Sutra, later became Indra Migamaja (Beautiful Eyes), at which time a great intermediate kalpa of disease occurred in this Jambudvipa (Rose Apple Island), and various incurable diseases such as sores appeared on the body. Without protectors or refuge, a great sound arose, and they prayed to gods, nagas, and so on. Indra, with a compassionate heart, transformed into a being called 'Depa,' and a voice arose saying: If they take and eat my flesh, they will be freed from disease. Do not be afraid, enjoy it freely. All the people cut and took flesh from that Depa being, but its body did not appear to decrease or increase, and all the people of Jambudvipa were freed from various diseases and placed in happiness. All the people gathered in front of the Depa being and said: You have freed us from disease, how should we make offerings to you? Please instruct us. That being made his body disappear and showed the actual form of Indra, saying: I do not need villages or cities, etc., but you should abandon non-virtuous deeds such as killing. That will be offering to me. Everyone then took up virtue in that way. Not a single sentient being saved by that being fell into the lower realms, but were born as gods of the Thirty-Three Heavens. Those beings were matured in the Three Vehicles. The Bodhisattva, having attained the Dharmakaya, in various ways of taming…
