Having descended from the mount with a mind moistened by faith, he scattered those precious flowers upon that Buddha. By the miraculous power of that Buddha, those flowers became as large as chariot wheels, and if (the Buddha) walked, the flowers followed behind, and if (the Buddha) remained, the flowers stayed, thus blessing them. That person then developed faith and also recited verses of great generosity and so forth. As a result of that (generosity), in the time of King Sudarśana, his palace also became like one made of gold, delightful to behold. In my (Shakyamuni Buddha's) palace, there also fell a rain of gold for seven days. The Blessed One (Bhagavan) said to King Prasenajit: Great King, therefore, you should consider that those who, like you, are content with the five desirable qualities and die in the human world are few, while those who die without contentment are very many. Just as the Blessed One said, through these stories of how Bodhisattvas appeared in the past, it should also be known that they skillfully demonstrated the power of merit, the ripening of karma, and the way of never being satisfied with desirable qualities. Therefore, those who desire their own well-being should abandon non-virtue, strive to accomplish virtue as much as possible, and cultivate a mind that is not attached to desirable qualities. In the Sutra of the Meeting of Father and Son, the Jataka tale of the Lord of Men, Sumati, is also told, which is consistent with the principles here. Also, the "King's God" mentioned in that sutra is similar to this. Furthermore, the Blessed One (Bhagavan) himself, in the past when he became the Chakravartin king named King Sudarśana, as well as Yuva Dhanapāla, Brāhmaṇa Kāladarśin, Prince Kuśa, Caṇḍāla Rājā Pūrṇa-tritīya, King Mahādeva, King Mucukunda, and so on, the deeds of benefiting sentient beings with great power and generosity, etc., should be understood in the forty-third volume of the Vinaya-vastu. Moreover, the Blessed One (Bhagavan) himself, in the past when he became the ruler of this Jambudvipa, named King Śibi, when Śakra, the Lord of the Gods, showed signs of the end of his life, and the Buddha's Dharma in this world was declining.

If the Bodhisattva is also not present, I do not know to whom to turn for refuge and feel sorrowful, then Vishvakarman said: King of the Gods, in Jambudvipa (Jambudvipa) there is a great king named Shibi, who practices the conduct of a Bodhisattva, his vows are firm, and through diligence he is able to attain enlightenment. If you seek refuge in him, you will be liberated from obstacles. After saying this, Indra, in order to first test whether he was a Bodhisattva, said: You transform into a pigeon, and I will transform into a hawk and chase you, and then go to that king to seek refuge and stay there. At that time, it will be known whether he is false or true. After saying this, Vishvakarman said: King of the Gods, one should not harm the great Bodhisattva, one should make offerings to him, and one should not torment him with such a very difficult thing. Indra said: I have no malice towards him, it will appear after being tempered like gold. If you want to know the truth, you should awaken the Bodhisattva. After saying this, he transformed into a hawk and a pigeon. When the hawk was about to catch the pigeon, the pigeon flew into the king's armpit and asked for protection of its life. The hawk also immediately rushed over and said to the king: This pigeon is my food, please give it to me quickly! I am starving. The king said: I have vowed not to send away anyone who comes to me for refuge, so I will not give you this pigeon either. The hawk said: If you protect all people, but do not give me food, am I not among all people? The king said: If I give you other meat, will you eat it? The hawk said: I need freshly killed raw meat. The king thought: If I give him freshly killed raw meat, it is unreasonable to kill one to save one. Except for my own body, all other living beings cherish their lives, so he cut off the flesh of his thigh with a sharp knife and gave it to the hawk, in exchange for the pigeon's life. The hawk said: Since you want to exchange the pigeon's life in this way, then weigh it with a scale and give me the same weight of meat. The king took the scale and weighed the pigeon and the meat of the thigh, even if the meat on the thigh and ribs and other parts of the body was all cut off, the pigeon
