用手抚摸着，问道：“您住在山上，吃什么食物？穿什么衣服？”两个王子回答说：“食物是水果和树上的果实。衣服是兽皮和毛布。与众多的鸟儿嬉戏，没有忧愁的心。”然后国王对那个婆罗门说：“你到外面去吧。”两个王子对国王说：“这个婆罗门非常饥渴，请您用食物让他饱足。”国王说：“我没有对你不喜欢或怀恨在心，所以才想施舍食物。”王子说：“我的父亲喜欢菩提之路，所以没有施舍财物。用我的劳动来乞讨，也是我们所拥有的主人。即使让他做使用我们的工作，也从一开始就没有按照父亲的想法去做。对他连一点慈悲心都没有，让他饥渴地待着，这又有谁能忍受呢？ 我的父亲连儿子都可以毫不吝惜地施舍给别人，难道伟大的国王您连一个人的食物都要吝啬吗？”于是国王也给那个婆罗门食物，让他饱足，婆罗门也很高兴地回到了自己的国家。之后，国王派遣使者去召回王子，使者便出发前往王子那里。在那里，从水中脱险后，心中想着王子，便脱离了危险，到了王子那里，传达了国王的命令：“请王子返回自己的国家。”王子说：“当初国王命令我在山上待十二年，现在还有一年没满，等满了十二年我再回去。”使者返回禀告国王，国王亲自写信交给使者，并这样吩咐：“你是在人中聪明有智慧的人，去也忍耐，来也忍耐，为什么你生气了而不肯回来？我们需要和你一起吃喝，快点来吧。”于是派遣使者去召回王子。王子接过使者的信，顶在头上，行礼，绕了七圈，立刻准备返回自己的国家。于是从那座山上出发了。

Stroking with his hand, he asked, "What do you eat when you live in the mountains? What clothes do you wear?" The two princes replied, "We eat fruits and tree fruits. We wear animal skins and woolen cloth. We play with many birds and have no sorrowful thoughts." Then the king said to the Brahmin, "Go outside." The two princes said to the king, "This Brahmin is very hungry and thirsty, please satisfy him with food." The king said, "I intend to give food because I have no dislike or resentment towards you." The prince said, "My father likes the path of enlightenment, so he does not give material possessions. Giving to those who beg with my labor is also the master who owns us. Even letting him do the work of using us has not been according to my father's wishes from the beginning. He has no compassion for him, and who can bear to see him hungry and thirsty? My father can give even his son to others without hesitation, would the great king be stingy with just one person's food?" Then the king also gave the Brahmin food to satisfy him, and the Brahmin happily returned to his country. After that, the king sent a messenger to summon the prince, and the messenger set off to the prince's place. There, after escaping from the water, thinking of the prince in his heart, he escaped the danger and went to the prince, conveying the king's order: "Please let the prince return to his own country." The prince said, "Initially, the king ordered me to stay in the mountains for twelve years. Now, there is still one year left. I will return after the twelve years are complete." The messenger returned and reported to the king, and the king personally wrote a letter and gave it to the messenger, instructing him as follows: "You are a wise and intelligent person among men, enduring going and enduring coming. Why are you angry and unwilling to return? We need to eat and drink with you, come quickly." So he sent a messenger to summon the prince. The prince took the messenger's letter, placed it on his head, bowed, circumambulated seven times, and immediately prepared to return to his country. Then he set off from that mountain.

When the deer and beasts dwelling on that mountain heard that the prince was leaving, they all threw their bodies to the ground, rolled on the ground, and uttered cries of weeping. The springs also dried up, and the cubs of beasts and deer could not survive. Many birds also uttered sounds of compassion. Then, the prince, having dressed and accompanied by his consort, returned to his country. The king of the enemy country, hearing that the prince was returning, adorned a white felt elephant with a golden saddle, filled golden vessels with silver mud, and silver vessels with golden mud, arranged them, and placed them there to welcome the prince. After welcoming the prince, the king spoke these words: I was overcome by ignorance, and because of demanding a felt elephant from the prince, the prince left. Now I regretfully ask for forgiveness. Now, hearing that the prince is returning, I am very happy, and I offer this felt elephant again, and also offer the gold and silver mud. Please accept these, and also please cleanse my faults. The prince said: For example, if a person gives food with a hundred flavors to another, and that person eats it and then vomits it on the ground, would that vomited food with a foul smell be good? Likewise, I do not want what I have given back. Messenger, ride this felt elephant and go back to your own country. Tell the king this: I am very pleased that he welcomed me and greeted me kindly with pleasant words. After he commanded this, the messenger also did as he was told. Because of the felt elephant, the fighting enemies loved each other and their hearts were filled with affection, and the hearts of the king and all the people became equal. At that time, the father king rode the felt elephant to welcome the prince. The prince bowed his head in respect and followed the king back to the country. All the people were very happy, decorated with offerings of flowers and so on, and swept the ground clean. After the prince returned to the palace, he went to his mother, bowed his head in respect, and inquired about her health with pleasant words. Then, the king opened all the treasure vaults of jewels.
