After granting, he gave whatever they desired to all the beggars in the area. Gradually, two-thirds of the treasury was used up, leaving only one-third. So he reported this to the Brahmin who guarded the treasury, but because of his son's reputation, he couldn't refuse and dared not speak. He said, "Make an excuse as if you are not available." As he said this, the treasury guard went to another place and didn't open the door, and even when he came, he didn't give as much as they wished, so the beggars' wishes were not completely fulfilled. The great benefactor thought to himself, "Like this, the treasury guard cannot bear it, and the parents' command is probably more important. Moreover, it is not right for the son to empty the parents' treasury. I should find a way to obtain wish-fulfilling jewels, so that wealth will never be exhausted, and thus benefit many people." Thinking this, he asked people for methods, such as farming, developing animal husbandry, or doing business. Some said, "It would be best to enter the ocean and take jewels." The great benefactor felt that farming and so on were not his part, and that he should enter the ocean to take jewels. Thinking this, he reported to his parents that he would do so. They said that entering the ocean was difficult to return safely, so they did not agree. Until that wish was fulfilled, he vowed to lie face down on the ground in front of his parents and not get up, and he stayed like that for six days. The parents said all sorts of things to dissuade him, but they were unsuccessful. After that, the parents agreed, and he ate food. Then, he set out on the road with about five hundred people. Not many days passed before they were attacked by wild men, and all their wealth was stolen. After that, they continued on and reached a city called Dashupara, where they met a Brahmin named Kabili. He went to his house and asked for three thousand gold coins. At that time, the Brahmin's daughter, who had golden skin and a high bun, had been sought by four thousand petty kings, but she had not been given away. While she was inside the house, she merely heard the voice of the great benefactor standing at the door and said to her parents, "The voice outside the door is that of my husband." After that, the Brahmin came to the door and thought, "This boy is superior to others." As for the request for gold, he took the gold with one hand and led his daughter with the other, and gave both the gold and the daughter to him. The great benefactor also (prepared to go to) the ocean.

And vowed that if the work required to return, it would be done that way. That Brahmin, with three thousand gold coins and all other necessary items, repaired the ship on the seashore, proclaimed the advantages and disadvantages of entering the sea, and then entered the sea. There, the merchants arrived at the Isle of Jewels, and the Great Giver, skilled in identifying jewels, valued the jewels and showed them to the merchants, filling the ship and returning. The Great Giver said that he would not return until he had obtained the wish-fulfilling jewel from the palace of the Dragon King, and the merchants were discouraged and said that all of us would not return and would wander abroad. The Great Giver said, I will pray that you return safely to your homeland. Having said this, he took the bowl, made offerings to the four directions, spoke the words of truth, and then returned, arriving in Jambudvipa. The Great Giver was, for seven days the water reached his knees, then for seven days the water reached his thighs, then for seven days the water reached his waist, then again for seven days the water reached his shoulders, and after that for seven days he swam, reaching the foot of a mountain, grasping the trees and climbing the mountain, and in seven days he reached the top of that mountain. After spending seven days on the top of the mountain, he again spent seven days descending to the water's edge at the foot of the mountain. There, he saw in the water a golden lotus flower, the root of which was entwined by a venomous snake. Then, that Bodhisattva sat in the lotus position and entered into the samadhi of loving-kindness, and the hatred of those venomous snakes subsided, and with compassion, all poisons were pacified, and the Bodhisattva stepped from the lotus and walked for seven days, breaking free from those venomous snakes. After that, he walked again and encountered Rakshasas, and those Rakshasas smelled the scent of humans and ran over. There, again, he generated a mind of loving-kindness, and those Rakshasas asked with gentle words: Young man, where do you come from? Where are you going? The Great Giver said: I have come to seek the wish-fulfilling jewel. Those Rakshasas were delighted and said: This is someone with great merit, the palace of smoke and earth is very far away, and it is impossible to reach it anyway, this person who will become weak from afflictions, is blessed with miraculous power.
