One should offer, respect, and serve the Buddha Bhagavan with desires. Furthermore, the Bhagavan said to Ananda: Let alone the benefits of the qualities I have obtained from enlightenment, the qualities that arose when I practiced the conduct of a Bodhisattva, even the Hearers and Solitary Realizers do not have them, let alone other sentient beings. When practicing the conduct of a Bodhisattva, the unbearable sufferings of giving up kingdoms, sons, daughters, wives, one's own life, flesh, bones, etc., are so numerous that it is difficult to believe. All of this is for the sake of you, a single sentient being. After hearing such words, if someone says that the Tathagata practiced extremely difficult deeds for our sake, even if ordinary people generate compassion with a single four-word verse, the result will be Nirvana. The Tathagata is of noble birth, lineage, form, name, marks and signs, power, fearlessness, and the perfect practice of the past Bodhisattva period, as well as the accumulation of aspirations, Paramitas, and precepts, and great love, etc., and conduct, etc., through these means, one will become greatly miraculous, radiant, vast, and like nectar, filled with nectar, and exhausted by nectar. All beings will die, and all conditioned phenomena are impermanent, so be mindful of virtuous things. Furthermore, it is said: Ananda, after remembering the Tathagata, those sentient beings who sigh deeply, whose hairs stand on end, and who shed tears due to the power of the Dharma, will not fall into all evil paths. Therefore, strive to be mindful. The enlightenment of the Buddhas Bhagavan, and all other roots of virtue, are obtained through mindfulness. As it is said in the Sutra Showing the Miraculous Transformation of the Power of the Buddha: Like the lamps of the world, after countless eons have passed, for the benefit of sentient beings, the great hero dwells here. And like the circle of the moon, like the appearance of illusion, coming and

Also, like showing the Tathagata. For stupas and images, and for making Buddha statues, for the sake of offering and reverence. Whoever remembers the name of the Buddha, those who abide for Bodhi, all will attain liberation. After prostrating to the Tathagata, listening to the Dharma, offering and upholding it is also the same, and will be liberated from all suffering. Thus it is said. The meaning spoken in other sutras: For sentient beings, giving the food and clothing of the gods every day for as many kalpas as there are sands in the Ganges, is not as good as giving a mouthful of food to one layperson. Therefore, countless merits can be generated. Bhikshus, followers of faith, as well as Stream-enterers, Once-returners, Non-returners, and even Arhats and Pratyekabuddhas. Some people, for as many Pratyekabuddhas as there are dust particles in the ten directions, giving the food and clothing of the gods every day for as many kalpas as there are sands in the Ganges, is not as good as hearing the voice of the Buddha, or writing a Buddha image, or seeing a clay Buddha image, then the merit is even more supreme. Seeing the Buddha image and folding hands, or just saying a word of praise, what more to say about making offerings? Whoever holds the name of the Buddha, with faith and love and does not abandon it, even if filling ten lands with jewels, offering to the Buddhas every day, cannot compare to its merit. Furthermore, just holding the name, in this life and the next, it is said to have immeasurable benefits. Like this praising the Buddhas, reading and believing, what more needs to be said? Thus it is said. The Vinaya Root Sutra says: Whoever does a little thing for the Tathagata, will also experience various heavens, and finally attain the state of nectar. Thus it is said. The Bhadrakalpika Sutra says: The sky can be measured, the great ocean can be completely counted, but for the slightest faith in the Buddhas, the measure of its merit is difficult to measure. As long as Nirvana has not been touched, one will not experience the suffering of having no leisure. Therefore, after obtaining the field of merit of the Buddhas, a cautious person should respectfully make offerings. Thus it is said. In the Sutra on Entering the Mudra of Determination and Non-determination, it says: The fine dust of ten three-thousand great thousand worlds.
