As stated in the scriptures, pray with sincere faith in the Buddhas and make aspirations for what is desired. Afterward, with unwavering devotion, prostrate to the Buddhas, the Bhagavat, as numerous as dust particles in the fields, and offer all kinds of offerings. Until attaining unsurpassed Bodhi, with the firm conviction that I and all sentient beings take refuge, recite the names of the Lama, the Teacher, the Bhagavat, etc., as much as possible. Finally, by reciting mantras in the manner of urging the mindstream of the Tathagatas, due to this cause, light emanates from the body of the Tathagatas, filling the expanse of space, and dissolving into me and all sentient beings, thereby eliminating all obscurations and suffering, and bringing happiness. Generate faith in the Dharma, mantras, samadhi, fearlessness, and wisdom, etc., the qualities of the Mahayana path, arising truthfully in the mind, thereby securing the ground of non-retrogression, and finally contemplating becoming fortunate ones who can gradually attain unsurpassed great Bodhi, and recite mantras as much as possible. Regarding this, the eleventh chapter of the Ratnakuta Sutra, the activity of universally emitting light. Now: Inconceivable, through the causes and conditions of virtuous deeds, completely abandoning ignorance, various lights are accomplished. Thus, by the power of effortless action, showing immeasurable colors of light, fulfill the wishes of all devotees as they desire. Thus, one ray of light starts from two colors, up to emitting countless kinds of light, there are various kinds of light. Light appears like pure clouds, pure eyes, pure ears, etc., up to the pure mind, similarly, pure form, etc., up to Dharma, pure earth, etc., up to space, pure aggregates, etc., pure truth, etc., pure fearlessness, etc., and having names such as white and yellow, having supreme qualities, the majesty of dragons, the majesty of elephants, the increase of lions, the increase of dragon offerings, etc., and subduing dragons, subduing yakshas, etc., Vajra power, emptiness, etc., completely purifying the respective past virtuous deeds, called the light of Dharma nature.

The name "Shaking Buddha Fields" shakes countless Buddha fields. The name "Subduing the Maras" makes the maras tremble with fear. The name "Ray of Light, Banner of Merit" eliminates harm by holding its name. The name "Powerful Banner" eliminates enemies by holding its name. The name "Perfectly Peaceful Banner" eliminates desire by holding its name, and so on. Merely holding any one of these names eliminates all faults such as wrong conduct and broken vows. Merely holding the name of any one of these rays of light perfects discipline and samadhi, and eliminates afflictions such as ignorance. Similarly, one obtains happiness, freedom from suffering, transcendence of all elaboration, and cultivates qualities such as knowledge of the three times. Each ray of light, such as the Ray of Light Free from Sorrow, has eighty kotis of attendants. Thus, the Tathagata possesses various different names and rays of light, whose number exceeds the number of dust particles in Buddha fields, which fully ripen sentient beings and completely fulfill their wishes, as it is said. In the Bodhisattva Pitaka, it is also said: The Buddhas' light is limitless, The net of light is immeasurable, The fields are like an endless ocean, They pervade all directions. Furthermore, the meanings spoken in the Gandavyuha Sutra and the Bhadrakalpika Sutra of the Ratnakuta Sutra should also be remembered. At this time, one should also practice the yoga of shamatha and vipashyana as described above, to the best of one's ability, so as to accomplish only that which is in accordance with shamatha and vipashyana. At the end of a session, one should offer a mandala, praise and pray, dedicate the merit, and make special aspirations as appropriate. Here, there is no need for inviting and withdrawing, because the Buddha's form abides in the object of focus, and like space, the Dharmakaya is equal, without coming and going, birth and death, and can be remembered at any time and in any place. During breaks between sessions, one should read various sutras, or strive to perform virtuous deeds such as prostrations, offerings, and circumambulations. Even if one cannot do these, one should remember the Buddha as much as possible, contemplate impermanence and suffering, and contemplate emptiness.
