Having transcended, whoever listens to and receives the explanation of this Dharma category, and then rejoices. Then, having left, he shows it to his parents and other people, and they listen and rejoice. He also tells others in the same way, passing it on from one to another, until it becomes the fiftieth person. If we were to describe the merit of that fiftieth listener, it would be like in countless hundreds of thousands of kotis of worlds, all sentient beings included in the six realms and four births, all those with form and without form, all belonging to the realm of sentient beings. If a person desiring merit were to arise, giving all those sentient beings the play they desire and the enjoyment of joy, giving beautiful and pleasing things. In order for them to enjoy the joy they desire, giving each sentient being enough to fill the entire Jambudvipa with shells, gold, silver, jewels, pearls, and vaidurya. Conch shells, coral, agate, horse-drawn carriages, ox-drawn carriages, elephant-drawn carriages, multi-storied houses, and also giving houses. In this way, giving these great gifts for a full eighty years. Then, the giver thinks: I have made all these sentient beings play, made them happy, and nourished them comfortably. But these sentient beings are now eighty years old, old, their hair has turned white, their faces are full of wrinkles, and they are close to the time of death. I should place them in the Dharma and discipline spoken by the Tathagata, and then teach them. Thinking in this way, he teaches the Dharma, and in an instant, they attain from stream-enterer to Arhat. Although the giver accumulates a great deal of merit, his merit, compared to the merit of the person who, having been passed on from one person to another, becomes the fiftieth listener, who hears one verse or one word from this Dharma category, and then rejoices, is not even one in a hundred, let alone a metaphor or a number. Therefore, for those who hear this Dharma directly from me and rejoice, what more needs to be said? I have said that his merit is immeasurable and countless. A son or daughter of good family, having left home to listen to this Dharma, to the Dharma speaker's

If one goes to the place of listening to the Dharma, standing or sitting, even for a moment listening to this Dharma, with this merit, in the next life one will obtain various mounts such as horses and elephants, and the palaces of the heavenly realms. Even for a moment sitting to listen to this Dharma, allowing others to sit, or sharing the seat with other beings, with this merit, one will obtain the seats of Indra, Brahma, and the Wheel-Turning King, as well as the lion throne. Encouraging others to listen to this Dharma, one will be accompanied by Bodhisattvas who have obtained Dharani, will not become foolish, and will possess wisdom. In all lifetimes, one will not have bad breath, will not suffer from tongue diseases or mouth diseases, will not have problems such as unsightly teeth color, crookedness, or falling out, will not have defects such as drooping lips or stuttering, will not have defects such as a crooked nose or a distorted face, and will obtain many merits of a beautiful face. Thus, merely causing one sentient being to rejoice in this Dharma can accumulate so much merit, let alone respectfully offering, listening, reciting, and expounding, etc., what more needs to be said? Then, the Blessed One admonished the great Bodhisattva who is constantly diligent, saying: Noble son, like this, upholding, reciting, expounding, or writing down a Dharma teaching such as the Dharma category of the White Lotus of the Noble Dharma, one will obtain hundreds and hundreds of merits. One will obtain one thousand two hundred merits of the ears, eight hundred merits of the nose, one thousand two hundred merits of the tongue, eight hundred merits of the body, and one thousand two hundred merits of the mind. With numerous hundreds of thousands of merits, the city of the six senses will be completely purified, and will become extremely purified. The ordinary eyes of flesh born from one's parents, through such completely purified eyes, will be able to see the inner and outer of the three thousand great thousand world realms, including rocks and dense forests, even up to the peak of existence and down to the Avici hell, able to see all the sentient beings born there, and also know their karmic results. Similarly, with ears possessing one thousand two hundred merits of the ears, one will be able to hear all the sounds in this great thousand world. Thus, one will obtain such merits of eyes and ears produced from its ripening, as well as the...
