As stated in the Great Play Sutra and the Vinaya, in summary, when attaining Buddhahood, in different places, for various types of beings to be tamed, he taught the profound and vast subjects, which belong to the three turnings of the wheel of Dharma, and with the wisdom of knowing all things and the great compassion of love for sentient beings, he could predict without obstruction all the questions about the three times of knowledge, such as the past karma of sentient beings, and manifest various miracles, thereby saving sentient beings from suffering and placing them in temporary and ultimate benefit and happiness. The deeds of the Bhagavan's life, shown to the common beings to be tamed in this Saha world, should be understood from other sources. Therefore, the great deeds of the Bodhisattva's conduct in the previous life of the Buddha Bhagavan have been collected from the sutras and shown here. What is said here is similar and of the same kind as the biographies of Great King Good Vision, the Lord of Men Renowned Immeasurable, Youthful Wealthy, and also corresponds to the theme of the Paramitas of this period, so there is no great need to collect it here, but in general, the stories are beautiful, and some of the contents belonging to the Jataka tales, such as the great thief, etc., are mentioned in the sutras preserved in Tibet. It would be good to collect these as supplements here. Even if they are not collected, these alone can represent the previous conduct of the Bodhisattva, but not everyone can determine that all the Jataka tales are limited to this. Therefore, even if one hears the meaning of one chapter of these Jataka tales and generates faith for a moment, one can plant the seed of supreme liberation in one's own mindstream and have immeasurable benefits, let alone hear all of them and generate reverence? Through these methods, one can understand the way of practicing the Great Bodhi path, and generate aspiration for it, etc., which will have great significance for oneself and others. As the wonderful great teacher Hero said: These well-known and excellent auspicious signs will indicate what are the paths to the Sugata, even those who have no faith in their hearts will generate faith, and speech that is in accordance with the Dharma.
