Having gone to the presence of the Sugata, the King of Ambrosial Drops, he obtained forbearance in the meaning of all dharmas being without arising or ceasing, and the Tathagata praised him, saying, "Well done!" Furthermore, when he became a sage named Knowing Courage, he was fearless, having mastered all the treatises. He realized that all defilements are definitely prevented if they do not arise. Entering into this is the key in order to prevent the aggregates, elements, sense bases, faculties, and truths. Whoever knows the key has done the work of the wise. From afflictions comes karma, and from karma comes maturation. If the key is destroyed, afflictions will not enter, and therefore the stream of existence will be cut off. Thinking in this way, he arose from that samadhi and exclaimed, "Alas, if this key is destroyed, it is bliss!" He uttered this intentionally three times, and the sound went unimpeded in the four directions. Countless beings heard it and entered into the destruction of the key of afflictions, and they did not turn back from unsurpassed, perfect enlightenment. Furthermore, when he became a sage named All-Seeing Eye, whatever door he looked through, he remained many times just looking at that meaning, and thus he analyzed the crafts of beings. For the sake of the happiness of beings, he created non-virtue and virtue with outflows, and thus they were born in higher realms and lower realms. He thought that doing virtue without outflows for the sake of nirvana is not a cause of existence. Arising from that samadhi, he proclaimed the sound, "Non-action in all dharmas is bliss, it is the nature of that!" The sound carried in the four directions, and upon hearing it, they obtained forbearance in the dharma of non-arising, and they did not turn back from unsurpassed enlightenment. Furthermore, in the past, when he became a king named Following All Sentient Beings, he became skilled at discerning the faculties of sentient beings. To those sentient beings who were tormented by attachment to form and inclined towards the lower realms, he thought, "They are attached to an impure body and do not know that they wander in samsara." Thus, he taught the dharma of impurity. By engaging the mind in impurity and applying the mind to the nature of dharmas, he caused countless sentient beings to be separated from desire and to be born in the world of Brahma. Furthermore, in a previous life, he was a sage named Certainty in Dharma.
