After faith arose in their hearts, that youth and the king, along with sixty hundred thousand other sentient beings, went to the Tathagata, inquired about all matters, understood everything, and became proficient in all treatises. All of them were prophesied to attain enlightenment by the Tathagata. The Blessed One said: "Son of Maudgalyayana, therefore, a Bodhisattva should be proficient in all treatises." The beginning of the wisdom of omniscience is: proficiency in all treatises. Furthermore, it is said: "The abodes and various kinds of sentient beings are made by karma." The answer is: "One should contemplate the meaning of afflictions and mental fabrications." Furthermore, when the Bodhisattva was reborn as the Bodhisattva named Light Excellent Splendor, in his dreams while sleeping, he saw nothing other than speaking truthfully with the Tathagata. He asked the Tathagata named Unobstructed Manifestation about worldly knowledge and the knowledge of arising. That Buddha told the Bodhisattva who desired unsurpassed perfect enlightenment that he should strive to learn all treatises, and in order to understand knowledge, he should also strive to practice realization. The accounts of the past, the terms of the future, the terms for individuals, the terms for villages, the terms for places, the terms for where and where one goes, and all the knowledge of worldly knowledge, one should be proficient in all of them. As it was said, he understood all those meanings. Furthermore, an expert in establishing the limits of externalists, when he became detached from desire through the path of externalists, he thought: "These various kinds of sentient beings, appearing different due to the cause of karma, is there a cause that prevents them from being born in different destinies?" Abiding in the conception of self, he wondered, "If sentient beings are born into different classes because of the actions performed by afflictions, then what is the self that should be sought entirely?" He investigated the five aggregates, such as whether form is the self, and realized that there is no self. Having understood that there is no self and no belonging to self, he arose from samadhi and declared to sentient beings the meaning that arises dependent on the absence of self and belonging to self.

Thus, by teaching, countless beings obtained forbearance of the unarising dharma. Furthermore, a sage named "Skilled in Knowing Death and Preventing Death," through the path of externalists, became one who possessed dispassionate super-knowledge. Seeing that all conditioned things are perishable, he pondered: Is there a dharma that does not arise and does not cease? After observing, he thought: Whatever is manifestly fabricated will cease, and whatever is not fabricated will not cease. As he separately contemplated in this way, for all dharmas that are not manifestly fabricated, he obtained a vajra-like samadhi called "Manifest Joy." Due to the power of the mind, all dharmas arise and cease, and the mind is the source of producing and preventing all dharmas. He contemplated this mind and found that the mind is formless, invisible, cannot be indicated, and its essence is separate from seeing. It is impossible for the mind to see the mind. Such cessation of the mind cannot be achieved through discriminative consciousness. When the states of the mind, such as attachment, cease, he understood that similar continuities will still arise. Therefore, he thoroughly understood all continuities of the mind. Having understood in this way, he was without afflictions and realized that all dharmas are no different from enlightenment in the equality of the three times. Therefore, by teaching such a dharma to beings, countless beings obtained forbearance of the unarising dharma. Furthermore, when the king was reborn as "Knowing the Former Limit," he understood that the present happiness and suffering, etc., are all caused by past karma. Therefore, for countless eons, he never generated any entangled mind. Furthermore, in the past, countless eons ago, when the Thus-Gone One named "Guide" appeared in the world, the king of Jambudvipa (South Asian subcontinent), named "Victorious Army," was a person endowed with dharma. He had a thousand sons, the eldest of whom was named "Peaceful Wisdom." When the Blessed One was reborn as Peaceful Wisdom, in order to fulfill his wish for the vast dharma, the king, his father, gathered all the wise shramanas and brahmins in the world to discuss the dharma with the young Peaceful Wisdom. At that time, the young man asked: Venerable ones, what is the harm in the world? Some of them replied: Poverty is
