And in order to eliminate past and future suffering, one should heal with the medicine of Dharma, and having healed, one heals in order to benefit life by sustaining it. Even in sustaining life, healing is done in order to eliminate the feeling of illness, and thus one spends time by eliminating the feeling of suffering of others. Furthermore, when a king named Mes-byin became skilled in understanding the sounds of all beings and contemplating their meaning, he understood the meaning of whatever sound he heard. He knew why this sound was uttered to express meaning, why it expressed the meaning of time, or whether some were expressed and some were not. In this way, he knew everything, and power and non-power followed him. For all actions, having done the action with this knowledge of sound, did it cease? Or did it not do, or did it do a little and then cease? Or did it not do a little. To what extent will this person become a vessel of knowledge? To what extent can he pacify afflictions? Thus, when such knowledge certainly arose, he became the teacher of the entire Jambudvipa. Furthermore, a person named "Chief Righteous Intellect," who was skilled in settling the disputes of sentient beings, and who could know victory and defeat merely by speaking each one's thoughts into words, he, with the beautiful conduct of body and mind, would captivate the eyes merely by being seen. He obtained great wisdom by judging and pacifying all disputes relying on the aspects of Dharma and non-Dharma through reasoning. With the power of wisdom, he entered into correct placement inwardly in a secluded place, and seeing the death and birth of sentient beings with the divine eye, he then investigated with wisdom, "What is it like to go to the next world like this?" Thus, he saw the meaning of no coming and going, like a moon in water, and by showing that way to many other sentient beings, he made them realize the reality of things. Furthermore, a hermit named "The Dharma Manifestor," who was bright in wisdom and skilled in debate, became one who contemplated the benefit of sentient beings. He entered into correct placement inwardly, and understood the state of the fourteen unelucidated questions, and the systems of the sixty-two views that rely on the past and future extremes through meditation and speculation, as well as the individual desires of each.
