They were born in the world of Brahma. Those women who practiced anger cultivated the immeasurable and meditated on the path of Brahma; those who practiced signs meditated on the signless and the path of Brahma; those who were particularly attached to the desire for existence cultivated the desireless and meditated on the abode of Brahma. Thus, all eight million women were freed from attachment to desire and were born in the world of Brahma. Furthermore, when the king was named Reproaching Afflictions, by his power, he had a retinue of ninety thousand consorts, all of whom were beautiful and pleasing to behold. Those women, seeing with their eyes, truly knew the fruit of afflictions and the fruit of karma. Therefore, all afflictions did not arise, and they were also able to know reproach. Thus, that king caused those ninety thousand women to understand their own karma and afflictions, and as a result, they attained freedom from attachment to the desires of the desire realm, and after their bodies were destroyed, they were born in the world of Brahma. Furthermore, when the king took birth as King Great Good Vision, although he obtained long life, wealth, happiness, and great perfection, he was not attached to them, but like others, he entered into meditative absorption, as it is said in the Vinaya. Moreover, in the past, when this Bhagavan was a hermit in the forest of asceticism, five hundred wild men destroyed a hermitage village and took much food and wealth. They also seized a man who had strayed there in order to offer him as a sacrifice to a yaksha, and they began to perform the sacrifice. That man was frightened and prayed in his heart to the hermit, and a god informed the hermit. The hermit went there and said, "Release this man and listen to the Dharma." And he taught them the Dharma, and the five hundred wild men went forth in the presence of that hermit and developed the four dhyanas and the five superknowledges. Later, when the Bhagavan became a Buddha, when a potter named Cluster was about to be killed by five hundred thieves as a sacrifice, that potter

Then, they prayed to the Blessed One, and the Blessed One transformed himself into the form of a god and went to them. Those wild people were very happy, thinking: "The deity has shown us his divine body." So they sat with their palms joined. That deity said: "There is no need for human sacrifices, listen to the Dharma." Then, in accordance with their faculties and abilities, he taught them the Dharma, and that monkey obtained the fruit of non-return. There, five hundred wild people manifested the fruit of stream-entry, and later the Blessed One showed them his Buddha body, and they were even more convinced, and all of them renounced and attained the Arhat fruit. That monkey also said: "If my body were not like this, I would have renounced in the Blessed One's teachings long ago, and I would strive diligently to cross the rivers." As soon as he said this, his body became completely perfect, and he was even more convinced, so he renounced and attained the Arhat fruit. Moreover, in the past, the Bodhisattva was born as a wealthy royal, handsome in appearance, knowledgeable in all fields of learning, and everyone liked and admired him. But he saw through the faults of family life. When his parents passed away, he gave away countless treasures from his home to practitioners and poor Brahmins, and then he renounced. He lived in a forest, accustomed to meditation, and thus became famous for his virtuous reputation. His father's friend learned of this and said to him: "You are so young, yet you have abandoned the wealth of your family and enjoy a poor way of life in a secluded place. Why is that? It would be better to return to your father's house." The Bodhisattva then spoke of the faults of family life, which is like a prison, and the virtues of the forest, thereby convincing that friend. Also, in the past, in a city called Champa (modern-day Bhagalpur, India), there was the son of King Gangamalatideva, named Prince Samudradeva, and the Blessed One manifested as him. He was skilled in arts and the five sciences, and after requesting his father, he went to the forest to cultivate meditation and supernormal powers. To this, the sons of five hundred ministers, all skilled in arts and so on, said: "We are equal to him in appearance and wisdom." At this, a teacher named Phung said: "The king's son lives in the forest, his appearance
