May the homes be adorned with the signs of wealth, And may one find a pleasing wife, May one be endowed with sons and grandsons. The next one said: Brahmin, who has taken your root? May one enjoy the inexhaustible wealth Adorned with garlands, necklaces, sandalwood, and fine clothes, And the ornaments touched by the son. Another one said: Whoever has taken your root, May he find wealth and grain from plowing the fields, And may he be exceedingly delighted by sons and speech, Not regarding life, may he be happy in the home. Another one said: Whoever has greedily taken your root, May he, by behaving submissively like a servant to the king, Be greatly revered by those who pass on the crown, And may he rule the entire earth in the manner of a king. Another one said: Whoever has taken the root of someone like you, May he become a guide before the king, And may he bring well-being and auspiciousness with mantras and the like, Likewise, may he be honored by the king. Another one said: Desiring the root but not desiring qualities, May he master the Vedas well and teach them, With great hope in the ascetic, May all the villagers make offerings to him. The friend said: Whoever has attachment to a root like yours, May he obtain and enjoy about four hundred Sacred and prosperous lands, from the kings, And may he die without being separated from desire. The servant said: Living meagerly for the sake of the root, May he become the chief friend among friends, Not being punished by the king's penalties, May he be delighted by the songs and dances of women. The sister said: Whoever has taken a root like yours, May she, having become the queen of the king, Blaze with the splendor of form and glory, Becoming the best of a thousand noble queens. The female servant said: Whoever sees the root but does not see the Dharma, That one is completely separated from virtuous deeds, Having become intoxicated after being honored, May he delight in delicious foods. Then, in that forest, the retinue of yakshas and an elephant and a monkey, because they had come to listen to the Dharma, having heard those words, became exceedingly ashamed and displeased. In order to show that he was pure, the yaksha swore an oath before them: Whoever is deluded for the sake of your root,

The great bathrooms were decorated. The broken drains of the flushing were repaired. The sunlight illuminated. The elephant said: Supreme One, what root have you stolen? That is bound by six hundred strong ropes. Like a wound disease stirred by sharp iron hooks. Having abandoned the delightful forest, he went to the vicinity of the village. The monkey said: What have you stolen that dried up the root? That is holding a garland of flowers, the Shado. Beating with a stick, sending it into the mouth of a snake. Bound to the fence, may you dwell in the house. That Bodhisattva, being gentle, subdued, and showing patience to all, spoke these words: What is not lost, will it be lost? Who suspects you like this? Whatever is desirable, enjoy it there. Dwell in the house, make the time of death. Then, the lord of the gods, Indra, realizing the merits of those solitudes and few activities, from the bottom of his heart disliked the actions of dwelling in the house and indulging in desires, and became a special abode of peace who was full of blame, and with respect and wonder arose towards him, showing his own form of splendor and radiance, impatiently said: Wait a moment. For the sake of obtaining what, does the mind strive? For the sake of wanting happiness, there is no sleep in the mind. Why do you curse those desires that you want to obtain correctly through ascetic effort? The Bodhisattva said: Friend, desire is an endless fault. Relying on what, the Able Ones do not indulge in desires, listen a little to that way. For the sake of desire, the world is bound and killed. Experiencing the torment of sorrow, many fears, and suffering. Kings are also destroyed for the sake of desire. In the future, Dharma declines, sentient beings fall into hell. Through what, friends quickly generate hatred. Through what, the defilement of deceit and cunning walks the path. Fame declines, and in the future, suffering is experienced. The cause of obtaining those is desire. Therefore, the best, the middling, and the worst, in this life and the next, also kill desire. Like an angry venomous snake wanting to benefit me. The Able Ones do not rely on it. Then, the lord of the gods thought that those words were true, and manifested and praised.
