The Dharma for manifesting the five supernormal knowledges has been taught. Furthermore, in the past, when people lived to be eighty thousand years old, the harms to their bodies were: heat and cold, hunger and thirst, desire, eating, and aging. At that time, in the garden of a king named "Making Joy," near the well-established king of the Nyagrodha trees, there was a Brahmin like a great Sala tree named "Wheel Enclosure." When the Bhagavan became a Bodhisattva, that Brahmin taught about five hundred children the secret mantras of the Brahmins. The Brahmin Wheel Enclosure went into seclusion and had this thought arise in his mind: "People have short lives and must go to the next life, because there is no one who is born and does not die, so one should do good and practice celibacy. However, now people are small-minded about doing good and practicing virtue. I should renounce completely." He told this to the Brahmin children and asked them what they were doing. They said, "Whatever little we know, we rely on the Khenpo, so we will also renounce like you." Then the Khenpo, knowing that the time had come, had them all renounce. After that, Wheel Enclosure abandoned the five obscurations and dwelt pervading with the minds of the four immeasurables. At that time, the teacher was known as Wheel Enclosure. He said to the Brahmin children, "Brahmin children, people have short lives, are afflicted, do not last long, and are full of suffering. For example, just as a dewdrop clinging to the tip of a blade of grass quickly disappears when the sun rises, so too, the lives of people do not last long and are full of suffering. Similarly, drawing a picture on water, writing on water with a stick, a circle thrown into water disappears, a vajra thrown into water sinks, a stick thrown into the sky quickly falls, and no matter how much is woven on a loom, it eventually reaches the end, so too, life does not last long and will eventually face death. Just as a livestock being led to the slaughter is closer to the slaughter with each step it takes, and a piece of meat boiled in a large amount of water, and like a swift and deep stream flowing down from a mountain carrying away plants, so too is life.

It is like that. I, the Brahmin boy, abide from the mind of loving-kindness to equanimity. You also exhort to abide in loving-kindness and so on. The teacher, Wheel-circumference, lived for about eighty thousand years. In that way, he taught such Dharma to people with short lifespans, so that everyone, both himself and others, diligently engaged in virtuous Dharma with mindfulness, and generated meditation and the realm of Brahma. Furthermore, in a previous life, when the Bhagavan himself was born into a great and impeccable Brahmin family, he had six younger brothers who also possessed the same qualities as him, and one sister, making a total of seven. That Brahmin studied the Vedas and the near-Vedas along with their branches, and gained a reputation for being learned. He revered his parents like gods, and taught his younger brothers knowledge like a teacher and father, abiding in the household in accordance with the rules. After a long time, when their parents passed away, having dispelled their grief, he said to his younger brothers: Although I wish to stay together for a long time, the great sorrow of separation due to death will inevitably come, which is certain for all in this world. I wish to renounce, so you should abide in the household according to the Dharma. Hearing this, the younger brothers, with tears filling their eyes, said: On top of the grief of our parents, will you also abandon us? Wherever you go, we will also go. So the six younger brothers and the sister, for his sake, abandoned the great wealth of the household, friends, and family, and renounced in the forest of asceticism. The close male and female servants also renounced following them. In that vast monastery forest, they built separate leaf huts not too close to each other by the side of a large lake filled with flowers, and devoted themselves to meditation. They gathered before the Bodhisattva with the five superknowledges to listen to the Dharma. In order to enter the key points of meditation, he taught the faults of desire, the praise of solitude and contentment, the faults of laziness and so on, and the qualities of faith and so on. That female servant of theirs, being respectful and affectionate, dug up lotus roots from the lake, and divided them equally on large lotus leaves.
