In a country that was powerful, peaceful, and prosperous, there was a queen named Tsangdenma (Endowed with Purity), and there was also a Tsangden pond. The king had no son, so he prayed to the gods to have one. Even if it wasn't because of these prayers, if one accumulated karmic forces, a son would be born. There, a sentient being who had made aspirations for unsurpassed perfect enlightenment and held firm vows transmigrated from hell and entered the womb of Queen Tsangdenma. A woman with an intelligent nature knows five things: she knows whether a man is defiled or undefiled, she knows the time and menstruation, she knows the entry into the womb, she knows from where the one dwelling in the womb entered, and she knows whether it is a boy or a girl. Therefore, the queen said to the king, "A boy has entered me." He was delighted and made excellent prayers. In order for the one dwelling in the womb to mature well, the queen was attended to with pleasing and great wealth, and she was made comfortable and without harm. Then, one day, she thought, "Wouldn't it be wonderful if the king could give great generosity and purify merit?" She said it, and he did it accordingly, even releasing prisoners. Again, one day, she thought, "Wouldn't it be wonderful if I could enter the pavilion on the boat with the king and enjoy playing and rejoicing in the Tsangden pond?" It was done accordingly, and in the boat itself, a boy was born, handsome, beautiful to behold, with marks such as a golden color, and with the memory of his past life. When he was born, relatives gathered and held a birth celebration for seven or twenty-one days, and they discussed what to name the boy. Because he was born in the water, he was named Chukyé (Water-Born). The boy was raised by eight wet nurses. When the boy grew up, he investigated from where he had transmigrated, and he knew that he had previously served as regent for sixty years, and after dying, he was born in hell, and then he was born here. He thought, "If I become king again now, I will surely fall into hell again, so I must find a way." Therefore, he pretended to be crippled. On the day that the young Chukyé was born, the sons of five hundred ministers were also born. At another time, when those boys of the same age were able to run, King Tsangjin (Pure Giving) thought, "If the young Chukyé is crippled,

If it weren't for that, now that he can jump and run, even if he becomes a useless person, I would still want him to inherit the throne. Then the young man thought, this king attaches so much importance to meaningless things, I should just pretend to be mute, and so he did. When his peers could speak, they thought, if this young man wasn't mute, he should be able to speak by now. At that time, his previous name disappeared, and he became known as the mute waste. After that, for a while, the king sat there feeling depressed. The ministers asked him, "Although I have obtained the power of the throne, I have no sons or daughters. When I die, my lineage will be cut off, and my only son has become a mute waste. How can I not be depressed?" The ministers summoned the doctors. After they examined him, they saw that the young man was clear-headed and had no illness, so they said, "Let's try to scare him." After that, the king summoned the executioners and secretly instructed them: "I will announce the abandonment of this mute waste in front of a large crowd of people, but you must not kill him." They replied, "We will follow your orders." The executioners put the young man in a chariot and took him to the center of Varanasi (present-day Varanasi, India). The young man saw that the place was prosperous and said, "Is Varanasi (present-day Varanasi, India) an empty city? Or are there people living there?" The executioners presented the mute waste young man to the king and said, "Your Majesty, this young man said these words." After that, the king took the young man into his arms and asked, "Who will be killed? Who will be beaten? Who will be deprived of life? What will be given to whom?" The young man didn't say a word. The king said again, "Abandon this young man," and handed him over to the executioners to take away. The young man saw a corpse and asked, "Did this person die after dying? Or did he die while alive?" The executioners presented the young man to the king again and said those words. The king asked the four questions as before, but he still didn't say a word. He handed him over to the executioners again. The young man saw a large pile of rice and said, "If this pile of rice is not eaten from the beginning, it will become infested with worms, right?" The executioners presented the young man to the king again and said those words. The king
