The sound of showing the karma dharma appeared naturally. At that time, countless billions of gods gathered. As soon as the light of that Buddha touched him, that hermit's body became just as it was before, without any wounds, and full of color. That hermit prostrated at the feet of the Buddha, circumambulated him, and with his palms joined, said: "Bhagavan is my teacher. I take refuge in the Buddha, the Dharma, and the Sangha. Please teach the Dharma so that I may hear the Dharma and dispel the darkness of the wrong views of sentient beings and obtain the Dharma of right view." After he asked this, that Tathagata, starting from the Samadhi of Gathering All Merits, taught the Dharma to those retinues. Furthermore, he also taught the eight vajra words, the eight words of the Dharma gate, and the eight words of the seed syllables, so that the supreme hermit had unwavering courage, unfailing memory, and was completely possessed by the gods, and the attack of the demons was also destroyed. In all the villages and cities, he taught the Dharma for a thousand years, and matured immeasurable sentient beings, and was born in the Buddha-field called Stainless Light King. In detail, it should be known in the Sutra of the Samadhi of Gathering All Merits. Furthermore, in the past, the Tathagata himself was a Chakravartin king, and on this Vulture Peak Mountain (Grdhrakuta), he also offered flowers, incense, banners, and so on, as well as various musical instruments and countless billions of jeweled temples, to countless immeasurable Buddhas for hundreds of thousands of billions of kalpas, and honored them with all kinds of arrangements, and widely heard, held, wrote, recited, and meditated on this Samadhi that elaborates the equality of the nature of all dharmas, and accurately taught it to others. The last of those Buddhas was called King Sala, who lived for seventy-six hundred thousand years. During his lifetime, he offered and served with heavenly sandalwood jeweled temples for eighteen thousand billion years, and then renounced and held, wrote, and recited this Samadhi for fourteen thousand billion years.

Meditated on samadhi and extensively showed it to others. Furthermore, for the sake of this samadhi, there was nothing that had not been given away before, such as head, hands, feet, wife, children, jewels, food, and so on. Countless billions of Buddhas, and even more than that, as many as the sands of the Ganges, resided on this Vulture Peak and taught this samadhi, all of them having the same name, Shakyamuni. The names of their chief disciples and attendants, etc., were also exactly the same as the current Shariputra and others. All of them appeared in the degenerate age, heard and diligently practiced this samadhi. Furthermore, as stated in the "Moon Lamp Sutra," the way of receiving this samadhi from many Buddhas, such as Limitless Sound and Variously Renowned Sound, is also the same. Furthermore, when he became a rabbit, he jumped into the fire to seek the Dharma from a hermit. When he became a king, he gave all the ornaments of his body to a hunter for half a verse of Dharma, and pawned his body. When he became the king's daughter Yesheda, he made food from his own flesh to heal the disease of the Dharma speaker, and so on. In short, the Tathagata in the past, for the sake of the sacred Dharma, there was nothing that he did not give away, such as body, life, and kingdom. For the sake of half a verse, he lit a thousand lamps on his body, and from the light of the lamps, he fully heard that half verse, and so on, doing countless extremely difficult things. Thus, in the past, for countless eons, he endured great suffering, etc., and completely sought the sacred Dharma. This is actually the patience of enduring hardship for the sake of the Dharma. This is also the discipline of accumulating virtuous Dharma. This is also the great diligence of armor and application. This is also giving for the sake of the Dharma. This is also generating the wisdom of hearing. And through this way, it also becomes the giving of Dharma to sentient beings, and the cause of transcendental meditation, thus becoming complete with the six perfections. Similarly, in the case of other perfections, one should also know that through direct and indirect means, the six perfections are complete, and all the actions of the Bodhisattva are complete with the six perfections from the gate of the mind. Dharma.
