They were rescued from the collapse. Seeing this, the king and his entourage were amazed, thinking: This is truly brave and full of wisdom, not looking after himself, but full of compassion for others! The king ordered those people: This monkey king, because the monkeys fled, his body was crushed, and he acted as a bridge for a long time, so he was exhausted and unable to stand on his own. I will support him from below, and cut the bamboo pole and the branches of the banyan tree at the same time with two arrows. They did as the king ordered, and lowered the monkey king from the support. The monkey king fainted from his injuries, and people put him on a soft mattress and washed his wounds with medicine. After he recovered a little, the king said to him: You gave up your life and rescued them from the bridge with compassion, what is your relationship with these people? What are those monkeys to you? The Bodhisattva Monkey King said: Please listen to me, these respectful people have entrusted the heavy responsibility of the king to me. Therefore, they are like my children. I did this to entrust this heavy responsibility. For a long time, we have been connected like this. Born of the same kind, we are so friendly, living together, like relatives. The king was surprised by this and said again: Ministers and others are for the king, they are not for the king. Therefore, for my servants, why did you give up your body? The Bodhisattva said: King, it is true that doing so is correct, but the king's rule is like that. I think that kind of rule is not good. Even the suffering of unfamiliar people cannot be abandoned, let alone the respectful people in the heart, relatives and friends? Etc., he told how he pulled up the bamboo pole out of love for his family, and the king was very convinced and happy. Since this is the case, you have given up your own happiness and chosen others, what merits have you gained? The Monkey King said: Even if my body is cut off, I am not unhappy because of the respect and repayment of my kind. Even if I die, I can gain happiness, gain a spotless reputation, gain the king's offerings, and not feel fear after death. I have gained these merits, for the master without compassion...

Those who rely on these will receive the faults contrary to this, and there is no other way than to go to the burning flames of hell. Then, King, just as I have shown you, you should also possess Dharma, govern the kingdom, and treat your retinue and the helpless groups like a father, making them all benefit and be happy, so that your religion and politics, fame and merit increase, and you will be happy in this life and the next. After advising in this way, the king also developed faith. The monkey king also abandoned his body and went to heaven. Also, in the past, in Varanasi there was a king named Brahma-datta, who was rich and ruled the kingdom according to Dharma. In his country, there was a captain named Dhana, whose son was named Dhana-nanda, handsome and beautiful, comparable to the wealth of Vaishravana. When the Blessed One transformed into him, he became proficient in all letters and divination, and became intelligent and wise. He was compassionate and liked to give alms, and gave whatever he wanted from his father's property to the poor. Later, his father died, and the boy Dhana-nanda was appointed by the king as the great captain, engaged in trade, and gave great alms. Once, he thought: These properties of my father, since they are my father's, there is nothing strange in giving them away. I should earn wealth by my own efforts and then give alms. So he said: Who wants to go to sea with me, if there are no oars, rudders, shipwrights, and artisans, whoever wants to go, prepare the goods. Five hundred merchants said they would go. They went to the seashore, where they prepared food and drink supplies, and if there were quarrels, they sternly stopped them, where to keep the treasures, sweep away the accumulated water, observe the direction and the stars, and also brought a person named Broda. He made Broda praise that there were various kinds of gems in the sea, and many people who desired wealth boarded the ship, almost unable to bear it. The captain then made him say some bad things about the sea, saying that there were fish-swallowing monsters, waves, abysses, crocodiles, whirlpools in the water, and wind in the sea.
