As soon as he thought, billions of gods came to help, and wind and fire also helped, so the water was cleared away. The sea god said: This ocean is boundless and inexhaustible, the slightly changing ocean is not like that. Friend, just like wanting a path in the sky, how can you dry up the ocean? He said to those gods again: Gods, the ocean is not boundless, the boundary of the ocean can also be measured. My diligence is boundless and immeasurable, I can dry up the great ocean. Sea gods, look at my power! Look at the sky filled with gods! Immeasurable gods are my friends, they burn, incinerate, and also become wind. Look at me sprinkling water into the sky, look at there being no beings there. The assembly of gods are my friends, they incinerate and dry the water of space. The wind of space is my friend, drying the ocean without shrinking back. If the ocean does not give me jewels, then I have the power of a place of offering. My place of offering is the Buddha Jewel, as well as the unelaborated Dharma of liberation, the son of guidance, the Sangha Jewel. These belong to me, not to the sea god. After saying this, the sea god said: Good man, your words are true, you are diligent and powerful. You will possess jewels and give them, you will offer them to the Three Jewels. After saying this, he gave them. Also, previously in the land of Varanasi, Shariputra's son, a householder named Sotsi, became very intelligent, turning all his wealth into gold, making seven vases, and burying them underneath. When that householder passed away, due to attachment to the golden vases, he was reborn as a great venomous snake, guarding the gold. Later, after a long time, that village also became ruined and empty. That snake was also reborn as a snake there again and again, sleeping on the golden vases. After spending tens of thousands of years there, the last birth of the snake thought this: Because I am attached to this gold, I have become so ugly, now I will offer it to the field of merit. Thinking this, it went near the road.

I thought I should call those people. There, as a man was coming along the road, a snake called to him. Although he heard the sound, he ignored it and continued on his way. Again, the snake called out, "Come to me!" The man said, "You are very venomous, and I will be killed if I come." The snake said, "If I wanted to harm you, I could harm you even if you didn't come to me." The man was frightened and went to the snake. The snake said, "I have a golden vase here. Can you be entrusted with doing a virtuous deed? If you don't, I will harm you." The man said, "I can." The snake showed him a golden vase and said, "Use this to offer a feast to the Sangha. I will come that day too, so please welcome me." As the snake said, the man treated and offered the Sangha as he had been told. Taking a box, he went to the snake on the day of the feast. The snake was also happy and got into the box. As the man carried the box, he met a person on the road. That person asked him three times where he was coming from, but the one carrying the snake said nothing. After being asked three times, the snake thought, "This person is doing good deeds for me and helping me. To repay his kindness, I should not release my venom. Even if he has made a mistake, I should forgive him." Thinking, "Let me put it down in a secluded place for a while," the snake reproached itself, regretting and confessing its sins, and then carried the box again. When he arrived at the place of the Sangha, the Sangha was about to begin their meal. The man scattered flowers, and the snake watched them with a faithful heart. After the Sangha finished their meal, they preached the Dharma to the snake, and the snake was very happy and offered six golden vases. At that time, after the snake passed away, it was reborn as a god in the Heaven of Thirty-Three due to that merit. The Buddha said, "At that time, the man carrying the venomous snake was the Bhagavan himself."", "original_tibetan": "༈ །ཡང་སྔོན་གྱི་དུས་སུ་གངས་རི་དཔལ་དང་ལྡན་པའི་ཁྲོད་ན་སྨན་དང་ལྡན་པའི་ནགས་ཚལ་ཕུན་སུམ་ཚོགས་པ་ཞིག་ཏུ་སྤྲེའུའི་རྒྱལ་པོ་ཞིག་ཏུ་གྱུར་པ་དེ་ཤིང་ནྱ་གྲོ་དྷ་ཆེན་པོ་སྤྲིན་སྟུག་པོ་ལྟ་བུ་འབྲས་བུ་མཆོག་ཏུ་མངའ་ཞིང་དྲི་ཞིམ་པ་གཅིག་གི་དྲུང་དུ་གནས་", "chinese_translation": "又,在過去的時代,在雪山(喜馬拉雅山)富麗堂皇的山中,在一個藥材豐富的茂盛森林裡,有一隻猴子轉世為國王,牠住在一棵巨大的榕樹旁,那棵樹像濃密的雲彩一般,擁有極佳的果實,而且氣味芬芳。", "english_translation": "Also, in a past age, in the midst of the glorious snow mountains (Himalayas), in a lush forest abundant with medicinal herbs, there was a monkey who became a king.

A tree. One branch of that tree leaned towards the water flowing from the trunk, so when many monkeys were eating the fruit of that tree together, the monkey king, after observing, warned the monkey troop: "Do not pick the fruits from other branches until the fruits on this branch of this tree are finished." And they did as he said. After some time, there was one unripe, very small fruit on that branch that the monkeys in charge did not see when the companions were collecting leaves. That fruit eventually grew, and its color, fragrance, and taste became perfect. The power of ripening caused its roots to loosen, and it fell into the flowing water. That fruit gradually drifted to a place where a king and his consorts were playing in the water, surrounded by a wide edge, emitting a fragrance. The fragrance of the consorts' bathing was overwhelmed by it. The king smelled it and looked around, saw the fruit, and everyone gathered there, wondering what it was. The king tasted it and liked it because it was very delicious. He thought: "Eating such a fruit, even without ruling the kingdom, one is a king." He thought: "Not far upstream of this river, there should be a good tree. This fruit has not been touched, and it has not been long, still retaining its color, fragrance, and taste." So, he led his army along the riverbank into the dense forest. He saw that tree king and went towards it. Seeing hundreds and thousands of monkeys eating the fruits of that tree, he angrily said: "Drive these fellows away!" The people attacked them with swords and stones, making loud noises, and the monkeys felt fear and pain. The Bodhisattva felt compassion for them. Like a bird flying from the top of that great tree to a mountain, he jumped and tied a very long vine, longer than the width of the road, firmly to his feet, and then jumped back to the top of that tree. Because both feet were tied, he climbed up with effort, grabbed the branch of that tree with his hands, and allowed the monkeys to walk across the stretched vine. The monkeys were afraid and trampled on his body. Although his body was hurt, his mind remained firm and unwavering, and all the monkeys were safe.
