In a place called "Earth," the Blessed One took birth. That boy was handsome and pleasing to the eye, and he became proficient in all treatises, including writing, arithmetic, and crafts. At that time, many sentient beings were afflicted by various diseases and suffered. He thought, "My father is skilled in medicine, but he is old and frail and cannot go to cities and other places. In order to heal these patients, I should learn medicine from my father." So, he respectfully visited his father, inquired about the knowledge of the body, and mastered all eight branches of the science of life. Then he went to all the towns in the land ruled by King Lord of Light, and volunteered to provide medical care to all the sick sentient beings, freeing them from various diseases. They became full of strength and vigor as before, and everyone was happy and engaged in virtuous deeds. Everyone praised and honored him as "Water Bringer, King of Medicine." The Water Bringer saw a hundred thousand fish in a pond separated from the water, and compassion arose in his heart. A tree goddess said, "Give water to these creatures, and what you do will be in accordance with your name." The Water Bringer searched for water in all directions but could not find it. He cut off a branch of a large tree and used the shade to cover them, and then searched for water. But he saw that a wicked person had diverted the stream of the Water Bringer's river to another huge cliff in order to separate those hundred thousand fish from the water. He thought, "Even a thousand people cannot restore this river to its original state, let alone me!" So he returned and prostrated before King Lord of Light, saying, "I have healed the diseases of all the patients in this land. But in a monastery, there are a hundred thousand fish that have left the water and are being scorched by the sun. In order to bring water to them, please grant me twenty elephants." As he requested, the king granted him twenty elephants. Then, the merchant's son, the Water Bringer himself, and his son Water Garment, and the two Essences of Water, together led the twenty elephants. He took a hundred cowhide bags from the elephant herders, filled them with water from the great river called Water Bringer, loaded them onto the elephants, and quickly

去往巴尔寺庙的水池，注满水。水流到哪里，就有一千条鱼游动并观看。他想这些鱼一定是饿了，在乞讨食物，于是让自己的儿子穿上水衣，骑上一头跑得最快的大象，告诉自己家里的人，家里有什么食物都赶快送来，就像这样带着食物来了。水流被疏通后，倾倒在水池里，使一千条鱼都饱足了。我以前从一位读大乘经典的僧人那里听到：谁在临死时听到如来宝髻佛的名号，就能转生到善趣高处的天界。我想，我也要为这些鱼宣讲甚深的缘起之法，并称念宝髻佛的名号。当时，赡洲的众生，有些信仰大乘，有些则诽谤。在那里，水流让膝盖没入水池中，特意说道：顶礼如来、应供、正等觉宝髻佛。然后说道：此有故彼有，此生故彼生，即无明缘行等。如此，无明灭故行灭等，就这样一直说到大苦蕴灭尽，然后才回到自己的家中。之后，在另一个时候，名叫水流的男孩吃了很多节日食物，喝醉了酒，躺在床上睡觉。那时，出现了巨大的征兆，那个夜晚过去了。那时，一千条鱼死亡的时间到了，转生为三十三天之神。刚一转生，就心想我们是因何因缘而生于此地呢？当他们还是赡洲的鱼时，商人的儿子水流用食物和水使它们饱足，还为它们宣讲了缘起之法，并宣说了宝髻佛的名号，想到正是因为这些因缘，他们才得以转生于此。为了供养商人的儿子水流，一千位天子从天界来到商人的家中，将一万颗珍珠撒在睡在床上的他头上。

He went to the pond of the Bar monastery and filled it with water. Wherever the water flowed, a thousand fish would swim and watch. He thought that these fish must be hungry and begging for food, so he had his son put on water clothes, ride on a very fast elephant, and tell the people in his house to quickly send whatever food they had in the house. Just like that, he brought the food. After the water flow was cleared, he poured it into the pond, satisfying the thousand fish. I had previously heard from a monk who read Mahayana scriptures that whoever hears the name of the Tathagata Ratnaketu at the time of death will be reborn in the happy realm of the higher heavens. I thought, I should also explain the profound Dharma of dependent origination to these fish and recite the name of the Buddha Ratnaketu. At that time, some beings in Jambudvipa believed in the Mahayana, while others slandered it. There, the water flow submerged his knees in the pond and specifically said: Homage to the Tathagata, Arhat, Samyaksambuddha Ratnaketu. Then he said: This exists, therefore that exists; this arises, therefore that arises, that is, ignorance conditions actions, and so on. Thus, with the cessation of ignorance, actions cease, and so on, all the way to the complete cessation of the great mass of suffering, and then he returned to his home. Later, at another time, the boy named Water Flow ate a lot of festival food, got drunk on wine, and lay down to sleep. At that time, great omens appeared, and that night passed. At that time, the time for the thousand fish to die arrived, and they were reborn as gods of the Thirty-Three Heavens. As soon as they were reborn, they thought, what is the cause and condition by which we were born here? When they were still fish in Jambudvipa, the merchant's son Water Flow satisfied them with food and water, and also explained the Dharma of dependent origination to them, and proclaimed the name of the Buddha Ratnaketu, thinking that it was because of these causes and conditions that they were able to be reborn here. In order to make offerings to the merchant's son Water Flow, a thousand sons of gods came from the heavens to the merchant's house and scattered ten thousand pearls on the head of the one sleeping in bed.
